Unfortunately, the Cav's were defeated by Westlake last Friday night - I'm looking for a much better outcome tonight against the Lehman HS Lobos! Looks like the weather will be great and it's Homecoming tonight also. Any of you remember Homecoming??
This Sunday, October 22 from 4 to 5 p.m., the Lakeway Arts Committee is presenting the Austin Brass Band that will be performing British variety of popular music at the Activity Center. Admission is free and it should be a GREAT show!
The City Building Commission will meet in regular session next week on Thursday, October 26 at 9:00 a.m. Here is a link to the agenda - it looks to be a short meeting.
City Council met in regulars session Monday evening. Here is that agenda.
We permitted three more Short Term Rentals - this brings us to the maximum of 25 in the city. One renewal was tabled because there were issues and no one was there to address them. It will be on November's agenda.
Final plats were approved in Rough Hollow and at the Police Facility location without fanfare.
A Special Use Permit was issued to Lakeway Psychiatry & Behavioral Health at 1205 RR 620 - this is an office only.
Item 11 approved an updated Records Management Ordinance and item 12 awarded a contract for a commissioning agent for the police facility project.

Today we closed on about half of the property to be used by the police facility. We expect to close on the other half next week or shortly thereafter. This is a big milestone for the project.
The PEC upgrade finished up Tuesday - you might have noticed a green ribbon on vegetation in front of your transformer. If it's still there feel free to remove it - it was placed to make it easier to trouble shoot issues if necessary. My power came on about 11 a.m. and everything went very smoothly as far as I can tell.
The Board of Ethics met on Wednesday and approved new forms for training handouts, an employee ethics affidavit and began work on a process to do investigations. That was tabled and they will work on it at their next meeting.
I attended the Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Wednesday - Commissioner Gerald Daugherty spoke on the upcoming bond issue (voting starts Monday) and Representative Paul Workman talked about the legislative accomplishments and issues. Thanks go to these two for the hard work.
On October 28, 2017 there will be a drug take back day qt the Justice Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Here is a link to more information.

LPD Officers conducted 193 traffic stops, responded to 9 alarm calls, responded to 29 animal calls, responded to 14 collisions, answered 27 suspicious circumstances calls and handled 91 other types of calls for service for a total of 363.
Routine traffic stops resulted in the following charges, Out of Jurisdiction Warrant X 2, Driving while Intoxicated X 3, Public Intoxication X 1, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia X 1,
An officer was patrolling the Seawind area at approximately 3:00 a.m. The officer noticed a male subject outside of a residence and the subject ducked behind a vehicle in an effort to conceal himself from the officer. After a brief investigation it was determined the person was a friend of the person who lived at the residence. However, he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and was placed under arrest for that offense. He was transported to the Travis County Jail.
Officers were called to Canyon Turn Trail in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked on the roadway. Upon arrival officers learned that the vehicle had been left at that location overnight. During the subsequent investigations, the officers learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the Austin area. The vehicle was impounded and APD was notified of the recovery.
LPD sworn personnel attended the mandatory TCOLE Course 3185, Texas Legislative Update 2017 training this week here in Lakeway. The training covered all of the relevant penal code and law updates from this past legislative session. The class was presented by Noel Johnson from The Texas Municipal Police Association.
Detectives attended the Law Enforcement Portal training held at the Bee Cave PD. The training covered the emerging issue of a streamlined electronic process to transfer case information to Travis County Prosecutors.
Detectives were assigned to investigate a theft case where the complainant purchased a lawn tractor on Craigslist and has not received the merchandise. The payments were allegedly made through eBay and when the complainant attempted to follow up on the purchase, he was disconnected. This case remains open.
Detectives assisted patrol with processing a recovered stolen vehicle that was initially reported by APD. The vehicle was located on Canyon Turn Trail and was reported by homeowners who stated it had been there since 10/17/2017. APD will handle the follow up.
APO Greig investigated an animal attack which was referred to Austin Animal Control for follow up.
October 9, 2017, suspect was arrested on an LPD forgery case in Bell County, Texas. The incident was initially reported on June 13, 2017, where the complainant reported losing her payroll check which was later deposited in the suspects’ bank account.
