Tomorrow
is an Ozone Action Day for the Austin area, which means that TCEQ believes that
there is a high likelihood that ground-level ozone pollution will reach levels
considered “unhealthy for sensitive groups” (children, seniors, adults with
asthma, and adults who are active outdoors) particularly on the southern and
southeastern parts of the metro areas. Ground-level ozone can make it difficult
to breathe and cause shortness of breath, and can trigger asthma attacks among
people who have asthma.
You
can keep yourself and your family safe by limiting prolonged physical exertion
outdoors and scheduling outdoor activities for the morning rather than
afternoon and ensuring that if you or any of your family members has asthma
that quick-relief medicine is on-hand.
You
can limit air pollution levels tomorrow by carpooling, taking mass transit,
avoiding unnecessary trips, and conserving electricity.
