Seems like 2.83 inches of rain should have lasted a little longer! Turns out it's really August and we're back to 100° plus temperatures. It was nice while it lasted.
We had a landscape recycle event last Saturday. Normally we open public works one Thursday a month for residents to drop off clippings and trimmings. I had some requests to do this on Saturday for folks working on Thursday. We had about 35 folks drop off brush and clippings. My plan is to do the Saturday drop off once a quarter. It will be restricted to Lakeway residents and will require identification. More once I get it scheduled.
The Fireworks Feasibility Committee had their first meeting Tuesday. Lots of good ideas and hopefully they will come up with a viable solution!
The ZAPCO meeting was rescheduled to August 16th because of an issue with published public notice. It will be the first meeting at the new 6:30 p.m. time. Here is a link to the agenda.
It appears the Sports Complex made it into the County's bond package. They have not decided whether they will put the bond on the November ballot or wait until May. My concern is it appears funding would not be scheduled for this project until 2021. That is not acceptable in my opinion - this project was one of the top rated items by the committee. Why the delay?
Monday the 21st will be a busy day. We will have a budget workshop at 2:00 p.m., a workshop at 5:30 p.m. with a presentation by developer HSD-Lakeway on the mixed use development on the current MUD property commonly referred to as "City Center". Council will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m.
The last Activity Center Garage Sale of the year will be held September 23 from 8 a.m. until noon at 105 Cross Creek. Here is a link to more information.

Another event is coming up Monday the 21st. There will be an eclipse of the sun visible from here. Although the total eclipse is not visible - it will be about 60-65% coverage here between 11-3. Be careful and don't look at the sun without special glasses, it can permanently damage your eyes.
That's all for now. If you would like to be added to my email list send a note to lakeway@bain.us and I'll get it taken care of. Thanks for all the support and the interest!
