Another beautiful weekend on tap! Missed the rain again in Lakeway although Austin picked up a pretty good shower along 360 and even some hail. Our next chance looks like the end of next week - let's keep our fingers crossed, we need some rain!
The Lakeway Activity Center will close it's main ballroom May 22-26 to enable the replacement of the mechanical room partitions. Here's a link to more information.
Pao's Mandarin House had a kitchen fire last week and is closed until further notice. They are working to reopen as soon as possible. Pao's has been in Lakeway for a long time - hopefully they will get it cleaned up and open soon!
Legislative Update:
HB 2551(Short Term Rentals) has been left in committee and SB 451 (STR) has been assigned to Urban Affairs. I can't find either on agenda's but they could be attached to other legislation. Hopefully both will die in committee.
SB 2 (rollback Caps) has been voted out of committee in the House with amendments to delete the 5% rollback cap - It will most likely have a floor vote where the cap can be added back on.
There are also bills to restrict annexation and restrict tree ordinances that I am following that may affect the City.
=====================
CBC met in regular session Thursday at 9 a.m. Here was the agenda for that meeting. It was a really short meeting, they approved the fence variance 7-0.
Building and Development Services (BDS) had another busy week. Here is a link to the week's blotter.
Parks and Rec. Director Andra Bennett reports that landscaping is scheduled to begin at Hamilton greenbelt on Monday, May 22. It is expected to take about 3 weeks to complete. This project is made possible by a generous donation from the Lakeway Civic Corporation (LCC). This is just one of many projects the LCC has funded to enhance our City.
Staff has been busy interviewing candidates for the position of Purchasing Coordinator. We have had several good candidates and hope to fill the position in the next few weeks.
Council will meet in regular session Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. Here is a link to the agenda.
We hope to canvass the returns and declare the results of the election - it is dependent on receiving the final results from Travis County. Those results are scheduled for May 17th but generally we get them in time for the meeting. If that does not happen we have scheduled a special meeting for Wednesday the 17th - here is that agenda.
Item 10 is a request for a SUP for a Short Term Rental at 103 Triton Court. This was recommended by ZAPCO but there is some question about deed restrictions.
Items 11-13 are plans and plats recommended by ZAPCO and should be fairly easy.
Item 14 is to award a project to overlay Hurst Creek and authorize the City Manager to execute a contract. We got a good bid on this project from Lone Star Paving and the contract amount is $291,000.79. This project will be paid from the 1/4 cent sales tax that voters reinstated on the ballot.
