Well, it's Friday again and I'm unprepared for this blog - lets see what I can dig up. As far as the weather, the above normal temps and beautiful sunshine look like they are coming to an end this weekend - don't forget you can click on "Local Weather" at the top right of the blog to access my weather station on the 15th T-box of Live Oak.
It started out with a bang with the Super Bowl Sunday - didn't figure it was going to end that way! Fun to watch the game though.
Tuesday I was invited to join the Service League for their annual breakfast meeting. Here's a link to Devin Monk's write up. The really important thing is this group volunteers their time to not only supply area residents with medical apparatus such as walkers, canes, wheel chairs and much more but also take folks to doctors appointments and other general help including some handy man work. For more info, call 512-261-3514 or go to www.lakeway-tx.gov/serviceleague .
Flint Rock Road has a new updated timeline that was released this week - here's a link. Looks like they have extended a little but it still looks pretty good! It will be substantially complete in May.
Most of the rest of the week has been a flurry of activity on the Police Station plan and bond planning. The City Council will have a special meeting at 2PM Monday the 13th to set the election of two Council Members (the two incumbents are so far uncontested), an ordinance to call an election to reauthorize the road maintenance sales tax and an ordinance calling a Bond Election for the Police Station. This is an important step in providing a real home for the police that make our city the safe haven it is. Here is a link to the agenda and backup. There will be a presentation by the Police Station committee that worked for nearly a year and the firm that designed it.
Also on tap for next week, Tuesday February 14 we will have a special workshop to see a presentation from Hathem Dawlett on his plan for the 82 acre MUD tract. Here is a link to that agenda.
There is a developer who is interested in building 4 condo's in the preserve on Dave Drive - the property is already zoned for that purpose.
From the Chief:
LPD Officers conducted 184 traffic stops, responded to 14 alarm calls, responded to 25 animal calls, answered 20 suspicious circumstances calls, responded to 8 collisions and handled 101 other types of calls for service for a total of 352.
Routine traffic stops resulted in the following charges; Out of Jurisdiction Warrants X 1, Possession of a Controlled Substance X 1, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia X 3, and Driving while Intoxicated X 3.
Officers responded to a Casa Verde Street address in reference to a city ordinance violation. It was learned that a landscape crew was attempting to trim oak trees in violation of city ordinance. They were advised and stopped working on the trees; no charges were filed in this case.
Officers responded to a Nightingale Lane address in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival it was learned that two subjects in a vehicle were having an argument. After investigation the officers filed a consumption of alcohol by a minor charge on both subjects. Both were cited and released to a responsible adult.

That seems to be it for the week, I hope all of you will have a safe and fun weekend. If you would like to be added to my email list send a note to lakeway@bain.us and I'll get you added.
Thanks for the support!
