BSW Open House, Solicitor List, Workman's Bills and More!
Lots of stuff going on around town, here's a link to a list I found. Don't forget the Open House at Baylor Scott & White - Lakeway, it will be a good experience. Tours and lots to learn at the hospital!
I saw a post on Nextdoor.com about a woman selling magazines around Lakeway. Please ask to see their license and documentation, and if you are on the no-visit list, call the police or BDS and report it. Here is a link to the no solicitor list, it also has a way to check to see if your already on the list. Solicitors are given a copy of the list and will have their permit revoked if they go to a house on the list.
Representative Paul Workman has introduced a package to give Austin Energy Customers a voice. Here is a summary of the bills in the package. This would help many of our citizens. Thanks Paul for the effort! I will post any way we can help in a future blog.
Take a walk, read a book! Check out the StoryWalk trail! Here's a link to more info.
Looks like the Swim Center will be closing temporarily for maintenance. Here's a link for more info.
There was a packed house for the retirement of Orka, one of our K-9's. She is being adopted by Detective Kanzenbach who was her handler for he last 3 years. Thanks to both Orka and Detective Kanzenbach for their exemplary service!
The Activity Center is busy this time of the year! Here is a link to all that is going on.
We received the Attorney General Opinion that we had asked for to address expenditures of Hotel Tax Money on a study and possible source of funding for a Performing Arts Center. Although it was not as specific as I would have liked it seems to allow what we are doing. If it promotes tourism and the hotel industry, then it is legal use of the tax revenue. Here is a link to the opinion.
CBC will meet in regular session next week - here is a link to their agenda. It looks like a really short agenda.
Here is a link to the BDS report for last week.

CID detectives drafted an arrest warrant for aggravated sexual assault of a minor. The court issued the warrant with a $100,000 bond in this case. There is no threat to the public, this was a family issue.
