Council Meetings, Election, Concert and More!

This was a busy week!  We had a Council meeting to authorize a bond election for a new police station - this is a big deal for Lakeway.   It will be the first and hopefully last police station Lakeway will have to build - it should carry us through our expected build out population of 25,000 citizens.  Here is a write up with more information and explanations of the process used and costs to homeowners.   We also called the general election for May 6th to elect 2 council members and called for a vote to reauthorize our road maintenance sales tax.  Here was the full agenda for the meeting.

We held a Workshop where developer Hathem Dawlett brought his vision on development of the 82 acres he has under contract to City Council and ZAPCO along with many citizens.  Here is a link to a video of that presentation.

Today was the deadline for filing for election in the council member race in Lakeway.  We will have a contested election with 3 candidates filing for 2 places.  Bridget Bertram (incumbent), Ron Massa (incumbent) and Tiffany McMillan have filed to be on the ballot for the positions.  They will draw for the order on the ballot on February 23 at 2:00 p.m.  The last day to withdraw from the ballot is is Friday, February 24th at 5:00 p.m.

There is a scheduled candidate forum on Thursday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lakeway Activity Center.

Council will meet in regular session on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30 p.m.  Note the change to Tuesday because of the holiday.  Here is that agenda.

We have been busy this week interviewing candidates for both Deputy City Manager and 2 police lieutenants.  We have had several good qualified candidates and have a couple more to go - it will be a hard choice!
