Sunday I was honored to be in the Parade of Champions for Lake Travis ISD - they honored not only the Cavaliers State Championship win but also achievements in Arts and Academics - Great job Lake Travis ISD!
Somehow over the weekend I managed to catch Strep and was only able to make a couple of meetings Monday. The monthly CAMPO meeting was Monday evening and I managed to watch it on their video feed.
On other CAMPO news, you might have heard my term was up on the Board and I applied for reappointment. Travis County then decided to Open a Call for Applications for the appointment and I filled out a Packet due by January 20th. At the Commissioners Court meeting on Jan 10th. the Commissioners Court (Sarah Eckhardt and new member Travillion) evidently decided they needed more diversity on the CAMPO Board and discarded the Call for Applications process - they then pretty much decided Small Cities needed no representation and appointed Jeff Travillion to the CAMPO Board. I am disappointed that this happened - not only with no notice from the Court but also with no conversation - it was a unanimous vote. As of this time I have not been notified, but I have reviewed the recording. It appears they don't want our input!
Thanks to all that supported me in this endeavor! We made some good progress in the last 2 and a half year and I will keep working with contacts I have made. We will still be heard.
State Representative Paul Workman has a bill to create a groundwater district that would include Lakeway - the is being done to satisfy a state requirement to establish districts in areas that have groundwater concerns - there will be no property tax included with this district - it will be funded by user and permit fees.
I am also in conversations with Senator Buckingham and Representative Workman about a bill that would decrease our rollback rate from 8% to 4%. I think this would be detrimental to the City and am hoping it will be derailed.
We have installed lane separators on Lakeway Blvd. near Chandon Lane for the safety of walkers and bikers.
CBC met in regular session Thursday - here is that agenda. All Variances were approved and the spa was determined not to be a pool. 31 site inspections were performed and 29 were approved.
We had two meetings on the Police Facility this week and are moving along very quickly - we should have pricing and costs by early February and I will get it out to everyone then - maybe a picture for everyone to see.
Council meets next Tuesday, January 17th because of MLK Day Monday. Here is that agenda. Two items of interest - 1. Final Plat on Serene Hills - Phase 4W - I expect no issues. 2. We will look at the STR ordinance again and after requested modifications.
Here is a link to the report from BDS - check it out!
Congratulate Mary Ann Heller! She has been appointed by Governor Abbot to a committee that selects the poet laureate, state musician, state artist representing 2-dimensional media and the state artist representing 3 dimensional media!
Don't forget the open house and blood drive at the New Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Lakeway Saturday, February 4th from 10AM to 1PM. See you there!
There will be Hazard Mitigation Plan meeting at 4PM Jan. 23 at Lakeway City Hall - here is a link to more information. Public is invited!
