The police are still doing a good job on the Handheld Device Enforcement Program that we started May 1st. For the period from May 16th to May 31st we issued 63 citations and 58 warnings. The count is down a little from the first two weeks but we have had a lot of time spent on weather related issues - Thanks to the police for working hard on this! We have had 21 convictions with an average fine + court costs of $157.
Judge Madison reports he issued 4 blood search warrants over the Memorial Day Holiday - 4 for intoxicated boaters and one for the Texas Highway Patrol for a 4 vehicle accident. Thanks Judge!
The Sundancer Grill is closing temporarily as of today (Friday) because of the high water levels. Hopefully it will re-open when the lake recedes soon!
To make up for it Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers opened on Tuesday to a great crowd. They are off to a good start and the chicken is GOOD. Stop by and say hello!

It's Spring and you will probably be seeing a lot of critters around Lakeway. Thanks to Gordon Phillipson for the picture of a fox in his back yard. You will probably also be seeing many fawns - drive slow and be watchful, they are not street smart yet and will run in front of your car. If you see one laying around, leave it alone, the mom has just parked it until she can get some food. If you handle it, the mom may not find it and it probably will not survive.

ZAPCO met in regular session Wednesday morning - here is that agenda. The only item of interest was an expected zoning change in the Highlands that was recommended for approval to Council. A big THANKS to Dave Taylor for continuing his volunteer support of Lakeway as Chairman of ZAPCO!
CBC meets in regular session next Thursday at 9 a.m. - here is a link to that agenda. Looks like there are several variances and a waiver on the agenda - it will be a busy day for them.
Next week will be a busy one. CAMPO is Monday evening at 6 p.m. on the UT Campus and I will continue the fight to make sure planning is a priority for the Western CAMPO area.
Staff will be working hard on the budget process and hearings will start soon. Thursday most of the Council and I will attend budget training classes put on by the Texas Municipal League in Bastrop.
The Parks Department is closing the lower level of the City park - either we have too little water or too much water! As you can see in the photo, the lower parking lot is flooded. It's expected to go up a few more feet over the weekend.
We had another Recycling event at the Lake Travis Re-Use and Recycling Center. We had 333 participating vehicles The event is pretty much at capacity and they are working to keep traffic from lining up on 620. We also have a LOT of paint and chemicals that are free. I will try to post a loose inventory next week with information on ways to get some items.
The Finance Department has completed a franchise fee review for AT&T Uverse services and have found $13,216 due to the City because of miscalculations and AT&T not including recent annexations - all is agree on and we expect a check next month.

64 Traffic violations completed and dismissed under the Defensive Driving section.
25 other violations completed and dismissed after Deferred disposition 7 State Law, 15 Traffic, 3 City Ordinance violations.
5 Violations presented insurance and were dismissed by judge.
112 other violations were dismissed with compliance by Judge.
Grand total violations completed 517. 140 new warrants were issued and 114 violations with warrants were cleared.

City Marshal Fred Johnson made 116 contacts by phone, 12 Personal contact, 13 Defendants settings to see to judge in open court under the amnesty program, 275 paid online/window, 6 actual arrest transported to Central Booking w/Travis county.
From The Chief:
Lakeway officers conducted 205 traffic stops this week; assisted the public with police issues 13 times; responded to 13 calls of a suspicious person/vehicle; animal protection officer responded to 10 calls reference animals; officers conducted 8 welfare checks; responded to 7 alarms; responded to 7 traffic hazards; handled 6 911 hang-up calls; issued 6 parking violations; responded to 6 calls of reckless driving; and handled 69 other calls for service for a total of 350 calls for service.
Of the 205 traffic stops the following charges were filed in addition to normal violations; Out of Jurisdiction Warrant X 1, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia X 3, Possession of a Controlled Substance X 1, Resisting Arrest X 1, and driving while intoxicated X 2.
Officers responded to a Fantail Loop address in reference to a dog attack. A citizen reported that two dogs had attacked her dog while on a walk, the suspect dog was located and the owner is paying the veterinary bills. No charges were filed in this case.
Officers responded to a Lakeway Blvd. address in reference to reckless damage. Upon arrival, it was learned that someone had crashed into the stone mailbox and left the scene. This case is being investigated by our motorcycle unit.
Officers responded to a disturbance call at a Deerhorn Court address. Upon arrival it was learned that a male subject had been assaulted. A citation was issued to one person for assault by contact, and both parties were separated for the night.
Officers responded to a Sunfish Drive address reference to a disturbance call. A verbal argument had taken place, officers stood by while a female and her child packed and left the residence for the night.
Officers monitored the roadways during the many rain storms this week and reported no road closures. All drainage appears to have been able to handle the rainfall.
Officers finished their school presentations to all LTISD 5th graders reference Alcohol, Tobacco and other drugs. The response from the schools and the kids has been very positive. We partner with the LTISD ADOT committee and their coordinator Kathleen Hassenfratz on this very important program.
