Monday we held a CIP Workshop (Capital Improvement Plan) and discussed major projects we feel will need to be accomplished in the next 5 years. This is still a draft plan, we will be updating some items along with the Justice Center item and then I hope to bring it before Council for adoption. Some items of note are once again the Justice Center, Lakeway Boulevard Overlay (several years out) RM 620 Improvements, Parks and Recreation (possible building) and reconfiguration of the City Hall with a new Annex Building.
I have asked Chief Radford to put a higher priority on cell phone / texting use enforcement. We have officers actively looking for violators - I feel this is an important safety issue for our residents so remember "It Can Wait!". Thank you for obeying the law!
LRMC is continuing their Community Seminars! Here is a link to their web page with the dates. Please take note of the 12th and 19th. May is Stroke Awareness Month and a session will be held on Strokes on the 12th, the 19 is "Snakebites 101 and should be a packed house - LRMC does stock Antivenom for snake bites! Good info!
National Police Week is coming up May 15-21. Please join us in honoring our men and women in blue during National Police Week by displaying blue lights at the front of your homes. They are available at many big box stores and other retail shops at a nominal cost. There are two sizes so check what best fits yours before you go. Let’s light our city in blue! Lets support our GREAT Police Department!

ZAPCO met in regular session Wednesday this week. The development agreement on Wild Cherry Drive was approved. ZAPCO members recommended a change to C-1 zoning that would make a special provision for a storage facility if certain provisions were met - that was followed by a recommendation to allow an "office / storage facility" to be built on property behind the commercial center on the North side of Lohmans with several special provisions.
Today Steve Jones and I attended the 20th anniversary of the BCCP (Balcones Canyonlands Conservation Plan at Reicher Ranch. We learned more about what goes on over there and why.
A pre-construction meeting was held with Austin Traffic concerning the new signal on Lohmans Crossing and Lohmans Spur - there is a 10 week lead time on signal poles so work should start in about 6-7 weeks.
Saturday is election day. Here is a link to the City elections page for information on outcome. All signs should be down within 18 hours post election - Texas Senate candidate's runoff election is not for a couple more weeks so their signs will remain - Please vote for Dawn Buckingham in that election!!!!

Our drug take back event was successful. We brought in 387 lbs. of drugs, and according to the attached chart, we are still trending up.
Routine traffic stops resulted in the following charges; Out of Jurisdiction Warrant X 1, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia X 8, and Possession of a Controlled Substance X 4.
Officers responded to Lakeway Regional Medical Center for a welfare concern. Upon arrival a female subject was determined to be at the facility to ask about her hip replacement recall. Due to her suspicious actions and possibly in mental crisis LRMC contacted LPD. Once officers arrived it was learned that the subject was wanted out of Willison County SO; she was arrested and transported to central booking.
Officers responded to a reported theft from a RR 620 S. business. After taking the theft report, a subject matching the description was located at a Bee Cave location. The stolen property was found in the vehicle and charges for theft are being filed.
Officers responded to a disturbance at a RR 620 S. fast food restaurant. The disturbance was between employees, and one person was released from employment and given a trespass warning.
Officers responded to a disturbance at a Sailmaster address. A juvenile subject had threatened a family member with a kitchen knife; subject was evaluated and transported to a mental health hospital for treatment.
Officers on all shifts have been focusing on the enforcement of the city’s hands free ordinance. Violators are being issued citations when observed by officers. Please Don’t Text or use your phone when you drive, it can wait!
