BBQ Comes to Lakeway, Guitar Performance and MORE!

Good Morning!  I'll try to catch up on the blog and give you some idea of what's going on around Lakeway!

First some news for all you BBQ lovers - Schmidt Family BBQ will be moving in to the old Busters location!  They feel like there are plenty of BBQ lovers to support both locations - Bee Cave and Lakeway.  It will be nice to fill in Lakeway's culinary gap!

The Austin Bella Corda Guitar Ensemble will perform at the Activity Center on Sunday, April 19, from 4 to 5 p.m.  Free show, donations will be accepted!

CBC will meet in regular session 4-9-2015 in Council Chambers - here is that agenda.  Looks like a fairly interesting meeting!

ZAPCO will meet April 8th in Special Session.  Here is that agenda.  A special session was called to vacate the plat of the Cherry Knoll Subdivision so Council can finalize that at their next meeting.  This is part of the Flintrock Road project.

I'll be meeting with the Mayors and City Managers of Rollingwood and West Lake Hills today to discuss transportation issues in my roll as Small Cities Representative for Travis County - looking forward to starting a dialog to look for solutions!

Lakeway MUD will meet in regular session April 8, 2015 at the Lohman's office.  Here is that agenda.

Mayor DeOme, City Manager Steve Jones and I went on a tour of the 70 acres purchased for lease to Lake Travis Youth Association - this is a beautiful piece of property that should serve the community well.  Click on the picture for to enlarge the photo.

Bluebonnets are OUTSTANDING this year!  If you can find the time, drive out Highlands Blvd. to Bee Creek Road and turn right - look left, there is a home that is surrounded with 10 or 20 acres of solid bluebonnets - I've never seen anything like it - take a few minutes to enjoy our State flower!

From Steve Jones:
The TxDOT RM 620 Corridor Study group held their first meeting on Tuesday.  It was primarily for orientation and organization.  The group will meet monthly for the next four to six months and provide feedback to TxDOT on the results of the corridor study as it progresses.  The idea is to measure public opinion and acceptance for options identified in the study.

The finance department is putting the final touches on the draft capital improvement plan.  We should have a draft for your review in the next week or two.

We made an employment offer to Kurt Hansen last week to become the city’s new building official and head up the BDS department.  We believe that he is well qualified to take over the department and help them succeed.

Chessie, with help from Mayor DeOme, addressed the Lakeway MUD board last Friday.  She advised them of the city’s proposal for an arts district.  She clarified many of the concerns raised by MUD representatives at the last Council meeting.  MUD board members expressed appreciation for the presentation and clarification.

Finally, Joe Bain requested that Lakeway’s proposed project, completion of SH 45 West (aka the “outer loop”), be removed from the CAMPO 2040 Illustrative Plan.  In exchange, he received assurances that CAMPO would pursue a study of long-term transportation needs for western Travis County.
==========================
More soon, it's a busy time of the year.  Be sure to attend the Candidates Forum on April 16th - get to know the candidates!  Doors will open at 6PM and question answer period starts at 7PM.  See you there!
