Veterans Day, Firewise, CAMPO and More!

Better late than never, right?  I'm a little slow this week but here's whats been going on.

There was a GREAT Veterans Day Celebration at the Lake Travis High School Performing Arts Center Tuesday the 11th.  It was one of the best yet if not the best, there was a huge crowd, the Lake Travis Band and Choir performed and we were honored with a speech by Admiral Inman about worldwide issues.  Thanks to all the Veterans in Lakeway and the surrounding area for their service to the country!  Thanks to the Heritage Commission for getting this all together!

The Lakeway Firewise Committee is launching a neighborhood program to show residents what they can do to reduce the risk of wildland fires to homes.  There will be a Firewise Town Hall meeting at 7 PM November 19th at the City Hall.  Here is a link to more information.

There have been some thefts of wheels on cars, one of which in the Duck Lake area.  Please be aware of this type of activity - Lakeway Police have an active investigation going and are working on catching these thief's!

The Board of Adjustment will be meeting on 11-19-2014 at 3PM in Council Chambers.  Here is that agenda.  Only one item pertaining to setbacks.

Lakeway's annual "Lights On!" celebration is coming up December 5, 2014 from 6-8 PM.  It's a GREAT evening and I'm sure Santa will be there for the kids (and adults)!  Here is a link to more information.

The City council will meet in regular session November 17th.  Here is that agenda. Here is the back up data for the agenda.

CAMPO met Monday evening at the Joe C. Thompson Center, University of Texas Campus.  Most of this years funds were directed to improvements of I-35 and a portion was dedicated to funding the "Hero Program" that rescues folks on I-35 and Hwy. 183 that have car problems - it helps keep the roads clear and quickly solves backups.  No money was available at this time for any planning or studies for Western Travis County.  We will keep working this issue to find beneficial solutions to the 620 corridor problems.  The Mayor, Steve Jones, Chessie Zimmerman and I will be meeting with Commissioner Daughtery, TxDot, Bee Cave officials, and CAMPO staff Monday morning to further discuss ways to move forward.

That's all for now, have a safe day and I'll let you know what's going on as I find out about it!
