We have received notification from the 3rd Court of Appeals that they will grant oral arguments in the Cokins' vs Lakeway matter.  We should get notice of the dates soon.

The Deer Management Committee met yesterday to organize this year's program.  Per the Texas Parks and Wildlife permit, trapping can start in October.  The population of deer has increased significantly due to the favorable conditions earlier this year.

Our financial advisors have been watching the municipal bond market with respect to the refunding bond issue the Council authorized in June.  Our true interest cost has dropped from 2.49% to 2.16% and we plan to offer the bonds in early October with a closing date after February 1st when the outstanding bond issue is callable.  This should save the city about $43k per year with a total savings of $443,243 over the life of the bonds.

Building and Development is about to issue a building permit to Austin Cancer Center for a new office in the medical office building at Medical Village.  The facility will offer diagnostic services.

ZAPCO had a long agenda this week.  Among other things, the commission approved temporary signs for the school district to assist with parking at various events throughout the year.  Variances were approved for the new middle school on Bee Creek Rd.

A special use permit was recommended for an "Event Center" at the Weed Corley Fish funeral home on RR620.

A second Special Use Permit was recommended for a full service gas station at the former Exxon site.  The new owner plans to use the existing building to open a Texaco station with the addition of a carwash.

A final plat was approved for Lakeway Airpark South that includes eight new residential lots and two new airplane hangars.  Some residents spoke to assure the City require the developer to abide by ordinances requiring heights be measured from "undisturbed" property since much fill dirt has been brought in.
