If you have a Home Protection Package from Arkidus Home Protection better look for something else and try to get your money back. Some of our residents got burned when they went out of business after collecting annual fees.
Public works retreated several stagnant water pools in the City - with this glorious rain all the mosquito larvae hopefully have been washed away!
I had a wonderful 2.8 inches of rain Thursday and Friday - it all soaked in around my house! Maybe we will get some more before the weekend is over!

City Council will meet in regular session Monday, September 17 at 6:30PM. Here is the agenda. It appears to be a fairly long agenda.
One important item that Council will address is the budget and tax rate for the City. This year Staff and Council will most likely adopt a tax rate of 18.15 cents per $100 of property valuation. This is a reduction of about 9% from last year! Let me give you some perspective - the Austin City tax rate is 52 cents per $100 property valuation. We have a good budget and your City Staff has worked tirelessly to make this happen! Thanks!
There was a collision on RR620 Tuesday evening - the driver was going 120 mph when he passed officers on a traffic stop - one officer went after the suspect and when he came up on the 500 block of RR 620 there was debris in the road. It was determined the driver had lost control of his car, hit the guard rail and then another vehicle. Minor injuries only thank goodness! The driver was eventually taken to jail.
From Steve Jones:
The Lakeway Visitors Commission met on Monday. They received training from Justin Braigel of the Texas Hotel and Lodging Association regarding the use of revenue from the hotel occupancy tax.
The bike group of Friends of the Parks plan to start building the new bike trail in Hamilton Greenbelt this weekend. However, the recent rains may cause a change in their plans. All brush will be removed and stacked for city crews to haul off or chip on site. Andra Dearing also reports that a contractor is scheduled to begin reroofing the pavilion and bathrooms at City Park on Monday.
We recently took traffic counts on Flint Rock Road to get a baseline for future reference. Near (and east of) Jack Nicklaus Drive we recorded about 4,000 vehicles per day. On the west end, near Serene Hills Drive, the count was about 1,700 vehicles per day.
Troy Anderson, our new BDS Manager, began work on Thursday. Troy will be introduced at Monday’s council meeting.
