Lets talk about our City Budget. Staff and Council have been working diligently for the past few weeks trying to make sure all of the services we need and enjoy from the City departments are paid for and no money is wasted. Our City now has almost a 10 million dollar budget and all monies from taxes and expenses need to be accounted for.
There is GOOD news this year! Our City tax rate will go from last years rate of $0.196 per $100 evaluation to $0.1815 per $100 evaluation - this is a reduction of 8%! This is the lowest tax rate the City has seen in many years, possibly the lowest rate ever!
For a comparison, here are the rates from some area surrounding Cities:
City of Manor $ 0.821200
City of Leander 0.670420
City of Marble Falls 0.643500
City of Lago Vista 0.630000
City of Pflugerville 0.599000
City of Cedar Park 0.493501
City of Austin 0.481100
City of Round Rock 0.423210
City of Georgetown 0.387500
City of Johnson City 0.297000
City of Buda 0.266600
City of Lakeway 0.181500
This figure will not be final until Council makes a final vote on September 17th at their regular meeting. There is another Council Budget Work Session scheduled for September 10th, but because all issues have been addressed, it will be canceled.
Here is a link to look at tax rate history for Lakeway developed by City Manager Steve Jones. It gives you a good idea of the fiscal responsibility of your City over the years.
This is a substantial accomplishment! Thanks to the Staff, Council and the Mayor for the hard work making this budget the best in Lakeway history!
