Weekly Update!

Don't forget the Lakeway Arts Committee is hosting the Lakeway Photo Festival, Sunday October 24 from 3-5 PM at the Lakeway Activity Center. It's a fun time and you can vote for the photo you like the best!

Early voting is brisk to say the least at Randall's Supermarket. As of noon Wednesday more than 2100 good folks had voted - I'm told that generally in a mid term election they would have had less than 50. this will be a record!

From Steve Jones:

Be on the lookout for new police cars soon - however they will look a little different this time! We are going to test Chevy Tahoes for police cruisers - they will be sporting new colors also! they cost less to purchase and get better gas mileage to boot! The one we are getting is a special police version - keep you eyes open and I'll let you know when they get here!

Dispatcher Byron Hilton has decided to take the Travis County Sheriff's Office course on his own time to be certified as a crime victims specialist. Once he completes his training the city will look into starting our own crime victims team. Thanks Byron!

The City has been working to recover money spent on the unsuccessful EIS police software. The city has sent them a demand letter and documentation has been turned over to our attorney. If necessary, the Council will be asked for authorization to file a lawsuit if their response is unacceptable.

For those wondering about the hospital behind the Post Office, they have submitted a sign application and are doing some interior remodeling. It will be called "Lake Travis Plaza Medical Campus". There is no completion time frame at this time.

The City is working with At&T to mitigate some of the issues with the new U-verse boxes being placed around the city. Hopefully it will all work out.

Ramming Paving has delayed our paving project by a week. they should start work Monday, November 1st.

Steve Jones has been contacted and approached to be a member of an advisory committee working on Austin Energy's upcoming rate change. They want him to represent small cities other than Austin that Austin Energy serves. He should be able to provide a perspective from a small city point of view that will benefit our residents.

That's all for now!
