Lakeway MUD met in their regular meeting today at 9:30 at the LMUD offices - here is the full agenda.
I'll go through the main parts:
4. A leak adjustment was approved for 615 Lake Estates after through discussion.
5. An extension of time was granted until December 31st for Out of District Waste Water Services at 108 Eagle Cove. This is the second extension of time and the Homeowner was not present.
6. Property insurance deductibles were increased from $1000 to $5000 and any property under a $5000 value will not be insured. This change appeared to save the District about $500 a year although after evaluating past history (15 years) it appears the losses will exceed the savings - time will tell.
7. There was a request for permission to install a sign at the corner of Stuart and 620 on LMUD land from a sign company salesperson. This was tabled until more info was obtained and permitted.
8. An auditor was hired for the internal financial audit.
9. The 15th amendment was accepted for the 19 acre earnest money contract with some revisions. The new close date is December 12th.
The City building Commission will meet in regular session tomorrow, October 14th. Here is that agenda.
Monday, October 18th City Council will meet in regular session at 6:30PM. I will post the agenda as soon as it is available. Items that have stirred some interest are P.Terry's Special Use Permit for a drive through, annexation issues and AV Zoning changes including changes to the AV Ordinance and a request to rezone a part of the property to R-1. I am told it is a long agenda.
From Steve Jones last week:
ZAPCO approved special use permits for model homes in the Ridge at Alta Vista and The Preserve. This means builders are back to selling new homes again.
ZAPCO also discussed Chessie Blanchard's annexation study. Several residents of Travis Oak Trails spoke against annexation - there was no public comment on any other subject areas. The Commission voted to support the results of the study with the exception of Travis Oak Trails. More to come on this.
The Executive Director of the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is recommendingthe commission create a groundwater conservation district that would include western Comal Count, northwestern Hays County and southwest Travis County including Lakeway. This commission would be created without voter approval and would have the authority to impose a new property tax. Lakeway's tax would fund 70% of the districts budget and since we use essentially no groundwater we would receive little of no benefit from the district. The Mayor and Mr. Jones have contacted both our state reqresentatives and the Governor Perry to express our opposition.
