First, last week from Steve Jones:
Police - Many of our officers do off-duty security work to supplement their wages, especially during the holiday season. Highway contractors working on SH 71 near Bee Cave would like to hire them and a patrol car to help with traffic control - the City is allowing them to use a car for a fee that covers all expenses - it's a good thing for all. Wave at our officers as you go by - it's making the road safer!
Monday night there is an item on the agenda to authorize the City Attorney to seek party status for Lakeway in the groundwater conservation district matter. Since our Attorney also represents Bee Cave also, if we approve a waiver of conflict, we can split the fees with them - good for both Cities!
Crosswater Marina applicants prevailed in their defense of a lawsuit brought against them by a resident of Graveyard Point - apparently freeing them to continue the marina project. City Staff will be working on issues in the next few weeks.
More good news! Austin / Travis County EMS has announced that they will locate another ambulance in our area soon. The station will be located temporarily on the East side of RR 620 near the intersection of Home Depot Drive.
Contractors will begin paving streets on Monday, October 25th. This is our normal overlay project. Roads included are Orion, Acapulco, Morning Cloud, Firebird Cv., Sailmaster, Lohmans Crossing (Hurst Creek to Sailmaster), Galaxy Cv., Medalist, Electra, and a piece of Hills Dr.
The YMCA of Austin will be conducting a survey of residents within a three-mile radius of Lakeway to ascertain the feasibility of a new facility in Lakeway. Make your voice heard one way or another.
Dont' forget the Goblin Glow tonight at City Park, starting at 7:00PM!

Council will meet Monday evening at 6:30PM. It appears to be a long agenda, here it is!
Several items of interest:
10. P.Terry is asking for a special use permit for a hamburger restaurant across from the Junior and High School.
13. Once again, Lakeway Airpark South is asking for 2.7 acres to be re-zoned R-1 from AV.
14. The Council will consider revising the AV District Ordinance.
15. Council will consider starting the annexation process for the Villas at the Hills.
All of the above have in some way been contested on one side or the other. Join us for an interesting meeting!
AT&T and their contractors seem to be nearing the finish line on installing fiber around the City. Thanks to everyone for their patience, hopefully it will be done soon.
Serene Hills Dr. is still in pause mode. Other work is being done and needs to be complete before the road is open. I'll try to give you a heads up when it happens.
If you haven't made it to the Parade of Homes, it's certainly worth while! One of our local builders won a prestigious award with his homes! Congratulate Steve Zebranek on his win!
See you at City Hall - more coming soon!
