Council Update - October 18th Regular Session

Long meeting - let's get started! Here is a pdf of the full agenda.

5. Mayor DeOme accepted a check from Pedernales Electric for approximately $55,000. This is the quarterly franchise payment.

6. The week of October 18 through October 22, 2010 was proclaimed Chamber of Commerce Week in Lakeway.

7. A professional services agreement with Samco Capital Markets was approved for financial advisory services.

8. A professional services agreement was approved with PBS&J to develop a capital improvements plan.

9. The City Attorney was authorized to seek party status on behalf of the City of Lakeway on TCEQ's formation of a groundwater district - the City is on record opposing this district since a majority of the tax revenues would come from Lakeway and Bee Cave, both cities use almost no groundwater.

10. A Special Use Permit was eventually granted to P. Terry's Burger Stand. Residents of the condo association brought out several issues, but P. Terry prevailed with information provided by a traffic study and by agreeing to close the drive through at 10PM Sunday through Thursday evenings along with working with neighbors to fix any issues.

11. A Highlands Greenbelt lot was annexed into the City to provide access for a water line to an existing treatment plant for Highlands citizens.

12. The previous lot was zoned GB (Greenbelt).

13. Lakeway Airpark South came to the Council again for a zoning change from AV to R-1. Although they agreed to stipulations requested from the council, there are still issues with the current plan for the entire property. Since ZAPCO recommended against the rezoning, it required a super majority of votes. The measure failed to pass 5 for, two against.

14. The AV zoning ordinance was amended to "clean up" the current ordinance and maintain control of the Aviation District. It was passed unanimously.

15. An ordinance adopting public hearing dates and a service plan for the proposed annexation of the property known as the Villas at The Hills was passed unanimously.

16. And finally, the Final Plat acceptance for Serene Hills Subdivision Phase 2E was postponed once again because no more information has been received. This is one of the hold ups to opening the road to 71.

Thanks for LOOKING!
