Week's Happenings!

The big news is Lohmans Crossing opened Friday at 3PM. The work was finished on time and on budget but not without issues. A couple of workers painting the arrows at Lakeway Blvd and Lohmans were hit by a motorist Thursday. One was transported to a hospital but neither received serious injuries.

It appears it will be a couple more weeks before the Serene Hills extension will open. The City hoped it would open Friday also but it appears that there will be some delays.

From Steve Jones:

The City is working on a new contract with IESI that will include "single stream" recycling - it will also include a rate increase for solid waste disposal. Council will be looking at the new rate at the next budget work session.

The foundation and framework is almost finished on the new entryway sculpture on RR 620 as you enter Lakeway from the North.

Chief Radford reports that Ricky Gavit became our new warrant officer August 15th. Derrik Offer was promoted to Sergeant and Mike Pribble was promoted to detective. The collision involving a police truck on Lakeway Blvd. is still under investigation by TCSO. It appears the truck is a total loss, but our officer sustained no serious injuries. Interviews of six applicants were conducted this week to fill the two vacant officer positions.

An aircraft ran off the runway at our Airpark Friday afternoon, luckily no one was injured. An investigation is under way by the FAA.

City Building Commission will meet Thursday, August 26th. Here is the agenda!

Keep Cool and thanks for LOOKING!
