Latest City News!

Lots going on!

The mayor issued a burn ban effective today because Travis County's Fire Marshall issued a ban for the county. So, no burning!

There will be a special meeting of the City Council Monday, August 30th at 2PM. We will be making a couple of appointments, working on the Solid Waste and Recycling Program rates and working on the 2010 Budget. Here is the full agenda for your pleasure!

Rachel Wallace started as our new administrative assistant Monday. Welcome! Go by and meet her if you get a chance!

From Steve Jones:

Shannon Burke is working on a short-term rental ordinance. This will address some issues that the city has learned about. It should be on the September agenda. He is also working on revisions to our Food Service ordinance as requested by the Austin/Travis County Health Dept. The current ordinance dates back to the 80's and needs updating.

With the completion of Lohmans Crossing Rd. the City Engineer is now working on cleaning up the Development Ordinance. Expect these revisions this fall.

AT&T has been approved for 7 different utility development permits for various different U-Verse and fiber lines. There are 7 more applications still to be reviewed. AT&T will be working in various locations throughout the end of this year.

The City is also working on revisions to the AV - Aviation district to correct the way the current ordinance addresses certain issues. Expect more on this in the next couple of months.

ZAPCO will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 1st at 9:10AM. There are several sign requests, a Special Use Permit for P Terry's Burger Stand for a drive through facility, final plat for the Serene Hills Subdivision Phase 2E, an annexation of a Highlands tract and zoning of that tract. I will publish the full agenda as soon as it's available.

There are a couple of new area restaurants you might not be aware of. Shades is now open on this side of the Lake at the end of Stewart Rd. There is a new Chicago Hot Dog restaurant just North of the City on the East side - give them a try!

Wasn't the weather GREAT this morning. A little cool goes a long way!

As always, if you would like a reminder when new posts are made, send a note to lakeway@bain.us

Thanks for LOOKING!
