*****Weather*****
Well folks, Spring is officially here! The Oak leaves are winding down and the blooms have started turning everything greenish yellow? Don't forget, Waste Management will not pick up anything except what is in the cans. No bags of leaves, extra trash, or trimmings. They can be taken to the City Public Works Facility from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., the address is 3303 Serene Hills Dr., Lakeway, TX 78738.
Expect a rainy next few days around here. They are forecasting possible heavy rain, thunderstorms with possible hail and high winds. Somewhere between 2-3 inches of rain between now and the end of the weekend. Protect your cars and outdoor equipment. Of course, this may not be as bad as forecast and even a little rain and wind will help clear the leaves and blooms.
*****Corona Virus*****
This morning there were 4 cases reported in 78734 and 8 cases reported in 78738. As you have probably heard, some folks are not taking this seriously - I hope all my readers are not in this group. Spring Breakers from UT came back from Mexico with a high percentage infected. I'm sure their parents and roommates are excited about the opportunity to quarantine with them and take a chance of being infected.
Please follow the guidelines, and practice "Social Distancing". Get your exercise, but keep your distance from friends. Parents, make sure your kids understand why they need do distance - trust but verify!
Let's beat this thing so we can get back to enjoying Lakeway and all the friends and neighbors and social interaction we are used to!
*****Council*****
Notice of quorum is issued for April 3 at 4:30 p.m. They are testing video conferencing equipment - there's a Special Work Session Monday you know.
No agenda yet, I know they are working on the Parks and Open Area Master Plan Proposal - the City did that about 8-10 years ago with the help of a University student group (free). They are now looking at hiring another "Consultant" to do this work again. Won't be free this time.
I've noticed new warning lights are being installed at the school crossing on Lohmans. That's a great safety feature for the school kids crossing the street - hopefully the city and school are sharing the costs.
I'll post the agenda Friday after it's published. We'll see what else they will be working on.
===================
That's all for today, more as the week goes forward. I hope to have more pictures by the weekend. The Bluebonnets are spectacular and the Greenbelts are open. Please support our local restaurants that are trying to survive by ordering take out and enjoying some of their food. Stay safe and I hope to see and talk to all of you soon!
If you would like to be added to my email list, send a note to lakeway@bain.us and I'll get you added.
Thanks for reading the "blog". I'll have another post soon.
Joe Bain
