Obligatory Weather, Virus News, Some pictures and MORE!

*****A Little Weather*****

Lets start with a little weather.  Typical Texas Spring, a little cool, a little warm, some rain and Monday a dreary day.  We had a total of 2.83 inches of rain in March, a high of 91.6 and a low of 41.5 during the month.  Lake Travis is in pretty good shape - right now it's 672.57 (full is 681).  This is about 3.23 feet above the historical average for this time of year.  Buchanan is at 1,017.69, about 6.19 feet above the historical average.

*****Corona Virus Update*****

I know everyone is getting multiple informational emails from all kinds of sources.  It's really important that EVERYONE follows the guidelines for physical distancing.  Currently there are 9 confirmed positive cases in the 78734 and 78738 zip codes associated with Lakeway.  It also includes the Hudson Bend and Bee Cave areas.  That is us folks.

The County has it's "Shelter in Place" order that continues until April 13th at this point.  Here is a link to a FAQ on what the order means.  There are some diversions from this and the Lakeway Order, but the differences are insignificant.  It's looking like this might be extended to at least to the end of April.

So, stay home, keep to yourself and stay safe.  Lakeway has a significant part of their population that is in the high to ultra high risk level.  Although I think using the golf courses is great exercise, I do have some concerns about the golfers that evidently are confused about social distancing.  I'm watching it on Live Oak daily, some are walking and some are sharing carts.  But many seem to forget the distancing part at the tee's and are standing shoulder to shoulder watching their teams.  Some walking jump into friends carts to get up the hills.  We need to all take this seriously, we all are affected.

*****Bee Cave Turmoil*****

It appears Bee Cave has their on issues.  First Mayor Monty Parker resigned because of a pending move / job requirements.  Then Mayor Pro Tem Bill Goodwin assumed the Mayor position until the May election where Kara King was the only one that ran for the Mayor position.  At a special meeting called last week, a couple of council members took issue with decisions that Mayor Bill Goodwin had made and tried to vote him out of the Mayor's position.  That failed but he resigned as Mayor.  Then council member Jon Cobb moved to remove Goodwin from the Economic Development Board - that failed too.  Then Jon Cobb resigned.  Kara King is now Mayor.  Sounds like Lakeway is not the only city that has elected officials that don't see eye to eye on everything.

*****Lakeway Schedule*****

First we had a ZAPCO meeting April 1, then we didn't and it was postponed until April 14th.  Now there is a Special Council Meeting scheduled for April 6.  No agenda yet.  It's too bad they don't put off some of the big changes and spending until the pandemic settles down.

The Charter Review Committee is scheduled to meet via conference call Thursday.  I suspect CBC will be meeting soon.  It's kind of a mess....

*****Cruise Complications?*****

Have you seen the news about the Celebrity Cruise?  Some of our residents and friends got on the Celebrity Eclipse on March 1 in Buenos Aires for a 14 day cruise - they were supposed to get off on March 15 in Chile - but that's where their vacation took a detour.  Chile refused to let them disembark because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  After circling off the coast of Chile for a couple of days permission was obtained to go to San Diego.  They arrived 1-30-2020.  No one had shown signs of the virus on the vessel and about 2,300 of the 2,500 passengers got off the ship.  I'm told they still had alcohol and food and plenty of toilet paper....I bet they will be amazed at the lack of lines at the airport.  Welcome home to a 14 day quarantine!

*****Good News*****

Bluebonnets in Lakeway
There are good things going on!  The Bluebonnets are spectacular this year, in Lakeway and close by.  Double click for larger pictures.

They are really nice and lots of Indian Paints too.

Construction in Lakeway continues as an essential business.   The Lakeway Church is continuing to move forward and upward.

As you can see, it's really taking shape!  I'm taking pictures every week to chronicle the construction.

Enjoy the time with your family!  I hope everyone is safe and healthy, I miss the social gatherings and interactions.
