Fall?, ACEing Autism, Women in Medicine, NNO and More!

*****Weather?*****

Are you enjoying Fall?  Yup, second Summer.  We enjoyed about .04 hundredths of an inch of rain Saturday morning.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but a little more would really help!  Looks like not much change for the rest of the week - maybe a chance of rain this weekend.

I was honored to be invited to the ACEing Autism Program at World of Tennis last Saturday.  This is a GREAT program!  They connect children through unique tennis programs to help these unique kids.  Left is Coach Danny DaGian and volunteer Tim MacKrell (back) working with a young participant.  It was wonderful watching the kids enjoying the activities land connecting with each other.  Here's a link to more information - maybe you would like to get involved!  Thank you Tim for the invitation!

*****Women in Medicine*****

My good friend Dr. Sue Knolle sent me the President's article from the Travis County Medical Society.  As you may know, my Aunt, Dr. Ruth Bain was one of the first part time residents of Lakeway.  Here is a link to the article - things have really changed since then!  Thank you Sue for the article!

*****National Night Out******

Coming up!  Next Tuesday, October 1, 2019 is the official date of the Lakeway National Night Out.  Get together with your neighbors and enjoy the evening.  Support your neighborhood and the local police - they do an outstanding job of keeping us safe!  Most of the block parties will have officers come around and visit with the neighbors - great stuff!

Ever wonder about the blue lights around town?  They show support to the police force.  Look around, if you don't have a blue light in your yard lamp or front light, please consider putting one in - its a great way to show support!

Looks like quite a bit is going on at the Activity Center.  Here is a link to the October information.  Lots of good information and activities - check it out!

The Greater Lakeway Women's Club held their first meeting at Flintrock Falls Monday.  It was a great crowd and the speaker talked about Restoration Ranch in Bastrop.  Here is a link to their website - it was a wonderful presentation and a really good non-profit.

Was invited to the Soft Opening of Salt Traders Coastal Cooking - Zilker last weekend.  If you haven't heard about it, Salt Traders is sort of the seafood version of Jack Allens.  It's a bit of a drive, but not bad - located next to the IHOP at the end of Bee Cave Road where it goes under MoPac.  Here's a link and I suggest you check it out - the food and service were outstanding and it will be a regular for us!

Found one of my little buddies in my garage yesterday - they seem to always fly up to escape and that doesn't work in a garage (or a hangar).  Opened all the doors and he finally dropped down enough to see the daylight outside and escaped.  I had one some neighbors brought to me a couple of years ago that had just run out of gas trying to escape - was able to pick him up and put some sugar water in my hand - he licked it up and finally found enough strength to fly off - beautiful little creatures.

That's all for today - let me know if you would like to be added to my email list - send a note to lakeway@bain.us and i'll get it done.  As always, thanks to everyone for all the support!
