Weather (or lack of), Town Halls and More!

Happy Sunday!  No rain today they say - there is some North of us but it looks like it will stay there.  We got about .16 inch on Thursday morning, but the promised rain later that day and Friday didn't happen.  The lake's are full and really clear this year so far.  Let's hope we continue to get a little rain through the next few months to keep our yards looking good!

City Park is in GREAT shape - lots of water and events are ongoing - drive down and check it out.

A lot has happened since my last blog, council has had their first session with the new members - some interesting discussion with mostly unanimous votes.  The big deal is the budget coming up soon - that will be interesting.  Here is a link to the video if you have a few hours to spend.

The Comprehensive Plan Town Hall was held on May 16 at the Activity Center.  A whopping 70 folks showed up to see the presentation - here is a link to the video (no sound....) but you can watch the video.

Looks like the city has hired a Communication Director.  I look forward to seeing more information coming from the city on what they are doing.

Two more Town Halls are scheduled to look at Legend Communities options for the MUD property.  June 5, 6:30-7:30 p.m. and June 11, 2:00-3:00 p.m.  Both at the Activity Center at 105 Cross Creek.  Here is a link to more info on the two options.  Hopefully this project can get off high center and move forward - it could be a great addition to the community.

Again, budget season is in full swing.  Here is a link to the Budget Calendar that the city uses.

The Heritage Committee will have a kick off presentation on Tuesday, June 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Activity Center.  It will feature our City's tribute to the Apollo Mission and reveal Lakeway Citizen's contributions to the success of the Apollo Mission.

Mayor Emeritus Charles Edwards is being honored with a Master Pilot Award from the FAA!  It recognizes individuals that have exhibited professionalism, skill and aviation expertise for at least 50 years of active flying.  Mayor Edwards award will be presented at the Lakeway Airpark's annual meeting at 9:30 a.m. on June 8, 2019 at the Lakeway Activity Center.  Join us to celebrate this great distinction.

Reconstruction is underway on the Live Oak Golf Course.  Here is an image of the 15th fairway - the grass was killed and ground turned up.  The course is closed until September.

Since I don't play golf, tell me why they aren't doing the part between the tee and the fairway?  Double click for larger pictures.

That's all for today, I'm going out and take some pictures.  Get ready, July 4th is on the way and is a special time for Lakeway.  Lots of things to do to celebrate our GREAT Country!

If you would like to be added to my email list, send a note to lakeway@bain.us and I'll get you added (or removed).

Have a great day!
