Master Pilot Award, Mighty Mujer Triathlon - with a video!

Let's start with the weather, a little like what we have come to expect on Memorial Day! We received about an inch of rain but the straight line winds were pretty wild.  There were limbs and trees down around town but we escaped the really bad weather.  My peak wind gust was 29 mph, but I'm sure there were higher ones in other areas.  I don't think anyone was hurt and that's a good thing!

Saturday morning, Mayor Emeritus Charles Edwards received an award from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) for Master Pilot.
Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award

The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award is the most prestigious award the FAA issues to pilots certified under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 61. This award is named after the Wright Brothers, the first US pilots, to recognize individuals who have exhibited professionalism, skill, and aviation expertise for at least 50 years while piloting aircraft as "Master Pilots".

It is an honor to have known and flown with Mayor Edwards - if you get a chance congratulate him on his long and illustrious flying career!

The City was host to the Mighty Mujer Triathlon at the Lakeway Park.  This is an all women triathlon that included a 500 meter swim, a 10 mile bike route and a 2.5 mile run through City Park.
Here's a picture of the participants getting ready for the start of the 500 meter swim.

And here is the finish line.  Here is a link to a 7 minute video of the race - it was a great success!  A special thanks to Peri Kowal for her hard work managing this even and a special thanks to all the sponsors that included the city of Lakeway and of course our

very own HEB!

Enjoy the cold front and have a GREAT week -
