The work has continued on the Lakeway Blvd. median - the good news is the rain is really good for the new grass, the bad news was the mess it made where there was runoff. They were working hard to mitigate the problems and clean up the mess. It's rally going to look good when it's finished!
A developer met with staff and is interested in building another medical office building at Lakeway Medical Village. There is an issue with impervious cover that the developer would have to mitigate by transferring from another piece of adjoining land. More if this moves forward.
Steve Jones and I met with TxDOT District Engineer Terry McCoy to discuss the 620 improvement project and other issues. They confirmed they have the funding to move forward with the environmental assessment, and it should take 18 to 24 months. I was previously led to believe this had started some time ago but it appears the 35 corridor and loop 360 preempted 620. We were also told engineering will not start until a funding source has been identified. Currently the proposed funding will come from federal highway dollars that will have to be approved by CAMPO. TxDOT will co-sponsor an application with CAMPO to include the project in their next funding cycle. We will continue to work with TxDOT and CAMPO Director Ashby Johnson to move this forward. The expected cost for the project from 71 through Lakeway is about $80M.
The PD Building Committee interviewed three companies this week as part of a selection for a commissioning agent. A commissioning agent tests and evaluates various facility systems to be sure they are installed and working properly. They would represent the project owner.
Don't forget National Night Out is next Tuesday evening. Chief Radford and I will be visiting as many meetings as possible starting at 5 p.m. I had bad news from Home Depot Friday - although we had been told they had the blue bulbs I order a month and a half ago, they are unable to deliver. This is a big disappointment to me and I'm sorry I won't have bulbs this year. If you have them please put them out - let's make a statement that we support our police!
Flintrock Falls will be celebrating NNO on Wednesday - they requested a special evening so residents could all attend one event. It should be fun!
CBC met in regular session Thursday - here is that agenda. We have had several variances recently because driveway slopes exceed 15°. We are working with staff to catch these earlier so builders can follow the ordinance. All items were approved except item 5 - members felt the building area on the lot was sufficient with out a variance.
ZAPCO will meet in regular session on October 4 at 6:30 p.m. Here is that agenda.
