Looks like another beautiful weekend that started out with a little shower this morning. Enjoy our Fall - it will be over soon!
This week brought news that the LTYA Field of Dreams sale to Adrian Overstreet fell through. We also now know that Travis County has dedicated $1.2M for design of the land we purchased for LTYA use. Lots of moving parts to get this done and we are working with all the partners to make sure this doesn't fall through the cracks!
There was a long article in the Lakeway Voice about our deer. It was slightly one sided and here is a link to more of the story and even more is available on the City website.
Texas Gas Service has reached an agreement in their rate case. This doesn't have much to do with Lakeway residents except for the homes in Serene Hills - it is on the agenda for consideration on Monday night.
CAMPO moved their meeting this month to Monday Oct. 17 because of the holiday and it conflicts with our Council meeting so I have given a proxy to Gerald Daugherty to vote on issues for Lakeway. The most contentious item is the Lone Star Rail that has been in the mill for over 20 years with no real progress. Union Pacific has pulled their right of way from the project - I expect Lone Star Rail to be removed from the CAMPO list and for us to stop spending on that project.
It appears that Stratus has sold the "Oaks" project. This has little effect on the City and we look forward to working with the new owners.
I got some information about our taxes I thought you might be interested in, as you are probably aware, our school taxes are about $1.40 per $100 evaluation. You should know that $0.97 per $100 goes to our GREAT school district. $0.43 goes to the robin hood plan. Wouldn't it be nice if the legislature worked on fixing our school taxes?
We have several items for Monday's Council meeting - here is that agenda. There is a zoning amendment requested by Stratus to delete the LEED certification requirement as long as LEED building requirements are met. There is an Annexation and Zoning request for property in Lakeway Highlands that was requested by the developer - should go smoothly.
We will consider amending the City Code regulations for Solicitors and the Fee Schedule for that license and permit.
Item 9 is a bond reimbursement resolution that establishes the City's intention to reimburse itself for funds we are spending on the services in item 10-11 relating to the planning and construction of a police station.
Item's 10 and 11 are authorizing the Mayor to negotiate and execute an agreement with architects and contractor to do pre-construction documents and services related to construction of a police building - once we get necessary information and prices we will be showing the citizens a plan and will ask for a bond election.
12 is just an ordinance that allows us to accept the settlement agreement with Texas Gas Service.
And finally item 13 is approving an interlocal agreement with Lake Travis Fire and Rescue for wildfire mitigation services - the enables us to pool resources and save money to make residents safer in wooded areas - good deal!
