Monday I attended a Regional Mayor's meeting in Taylor - we talked mostly about transportation, it's on everyone's minds. I've noticed they are installing new traffic light poles at Lohmans and 620 but have not started on the additional Southbound lane on 620. I was told it would start in June - hopefully soon.
Work is progressing on Flintrock Road now that the rains are over and good progress is being made. Please be patient with the ongoing construction, slow down and take your time. It is a construction zone and speed limits are now at 20 and 30 mph. Most of the truck traffic has ceased and we all need to be safe!
We are also working on two culvert projects on Rolling Green and Top of the Lake. As is normal, several unexpected issues are being worked around, water and sewer not exactly as expected along with AT&T and Time Warner facilities - no issues but a couple of surprises!
Staff has been focusing on budget and revenues and putting them together for next years budget. Looks pretty good and we are not expecting any surprises.
Parks has been working on damage and cleanup from the recent flooding. Looks like we are getting close to finishing and getting everything fixed up.
Council meets in regular session next Monday at 6:30. We will be hearing a report from the Justice Center committee and looking at the direction we will take on that. Here is the agenda and backup material. I'm looking forward to reviewing the results with Council.
CBC will meet in regular session on Thursday at 9AM in Council chambers. Here is that agenda.
I will be attending the Pedernales Annual Meeting Saturday morning at the Dripping Springs High School starting at 8AM. Come on out and check out the Cooperative's achievements and business updates.
The City is also getting geared up for our July 4th parade and festivities. We have a lot to be proud of in our little community and a very large veteran contingent. Lets show our pride by standing when the flag goes by and placing our right hand over our chest for respect - it's something that's important! I'm hoping for a HUGE turnout this year - we are going to have a GREAT parade and Pageant. This year the Grand Marshall, Anna-Brita Stevens not only worked with the Dutch Underground in WWII, but was the first full time resident of Lakeway. Come visit with her!
