Short Special, Steve's Report, Police Report ++

Don't forget the Heritage Center ceremony to honor the Greatest Generation and the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II this evening at 6:30 pm at the Heritage Center.

A little more from last week - here's Steve Jones report:

TxDOT plans to start late-night flashing traffic signals this week.  They also plan to implement new traffic signal timing plans, and to improve the vehicle detectors on 620 at Aria/Cavalier Drive.  These are all intended to improve signal operations and help the flow of traffic on 620.

We wired funds to TxDOT for the new traffic signal on RM 620 at Clara Van last Friday.  The project is moving forward, but we do not have a date for installation.

City staff met with CAMPO representatives last week to discuss the scope of work for a sub-regional transportation study that would include RM 620.  The purpose of the study is to evaluate long-range transportation needs and possible solutions for the western portion of the CAMPO service area.  CAMPO is attempting to follow through on a commitment made to Lakeway that it would give due consideration to transportation planning in our area.

Travis County, led by County Judge Sarah Eckhardt, is attempting to undermine the proposed CAMPO transportation study for western Travis County.  For many reasons, Judge Eckhardt is opposed to construction of roads in western Travis County, and she does not want to study transportation needs here.  Ostensively, she fears that a study might point out the need for new roads.

Staff is working hard to prepare for our budget work session this Thursday.  The work session will include, among other things, a review the city’s special revenue funds and a proposed tax rate for 2015.
