Lake Info, CAMPO, Upcoming Events, Traffic Lights and Council Meeting

What happened this week?  Well her we go - daylight savings started Sunday morning if you're wondering why you've been late everywhere!  We had a little improvement on the lake level - up about a foot!  The inflows are still very low - worst in the history of the highland lakes.  Here is the update newsletter with more info.  The first Annual Sundancer Grill Crawfish Boil will be held benefiting the Central Texas Water Coalition on April 11th.  Please consider attending and supporting this group.  They have been instrumental in bringing attention to the crisis on the Highland Lakes!  Here is a link to more information.

CAMPO met in regular session Monday evening at the LBJ Conference Center.  There was a lengthy public hearing where people spoke against the 45 South project and the Western Travis County Small Cities Project - 45 West.  Seems they don't want roads and are unhappy that citizens have moved out here.  I would really like to have a Regional study done to give us some answers.  Here is a link to more information and where to go to give citizen input.  Here is a link to the survey - please give them your thoughts!

Lakeway Sing Along is going Globe Trotting for their spring Show!  Celebrating their 15th anniversary of entertaining the Lake Travis area, Lakeway Sing Along will present “It’s A Small World” on April 23, 24 and 25 at the Lakeway Activity Center.

The Activity Center is also in full swing for Spring Break!  Here is Dallas Gorman's information letter.

The City of Lakeway Arts Committe will present the Austin Bella Corda Guitar Ensemble in a free performance of Dreams and Dances - Music from the Medieval to the Magical from 4-5 p.m. April 19 at Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek.

I had a report from Lakeway Airpark that a large drone was being operated Friday along Challenger at 700-800 feet AGL.  Operation is prohibited above 400 feet AGL within 5 miles of the Airpark because of safety issues with aircraft.  If you see this happening in the future, please report it to the Lakeway Police.

The City of Lakeway invites the public to learn more about its arts district concept at a Town Hall Meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 8 at Lakeway City Hall.  Here is a link to more information!

We met with representatives of Austin Electric, Travis County and Lakeway and it looks like the Flintrock Road Project is a little ahead of schedule.  Should go out for bids in a month or so and work will start this Summer possibly.

Lights at Serene Hills should start working soon, the new light on Bee Creek Road at the Middle School should be in full operation next week.  Hopefully both of these will enhance the safety of drivers.

Council meets in regular session Monday evening at 6PM.  Here is a link to the agenda.  Here is the entire packet that the Council gets - enjoy!  Looks to be a fairly easy meeting - our annual Audit was exceptional, there will be discussion of the Arts District, and a couple of items on legislation resolutions.  See you there!

From Steve Jones:
Municipal Court reported that on March 7 the court was open at 7:30 for warrant round-up with Judge Madison on the bench.  Twenty-five warrants were cleared.  The value of all warrants cleared was $12,433.  From the time the warrant roundup started on February 21 until today, the Court cleared 187 warrants.

Chessie met with representatives from Legend Communities to discuss ongoing development in Tuscan Village and Lakeway Highlands, and with Phillip Tindall, CAMPO Assistant Director, to discuss proposed changes to the makeup of the Technical Advisory Committee.

Chessie joined key BDS staff members in interviewing applicants for the position of Building Official.  The posting remains open, and additional interviews may be scheduled.

The CBC met this week and conducted 12 compliance inspections.  The Commission also determined that view blocking is not an issue for a planned addition to the home located at 705 Vanguard.

Chief Radford reports, “This morning (3/13) we responded to 5 different addresses regarding cars that had been burglarized overnight.  At some of these locations, more than one car was burglarized.  The Travis County Sheriff’s Office reported several more car burglaries in the Sweetwater subdivision as well.  The one common factor in all the burglaries is the cars were unlocked.  The Lakeway Police Department encourages all citizens to lock their doors, turn on your outside lights, and even if you lock your car, take your valuables (computers, phones, guns, purses, wallets and bags) inside for the night.
