Another Shower, Budgets and CAMPO

Saturday morning and another RAIN shower - what a June!  Since 6/16, Lake Travis has remained almost level.  Yesterday it was at 630.13 feet.  Remember, full is 681 so we are 51 feet below full.  LCRA is still sending water downstream so we aren't gaining any.  By the way, they also raised the price of water to the local MUDs to $175 an acre ft. - the highest rate in Texas.

The City Staff was busy this week working on budgets, it's that time of year again.  Departments are being asked to cut their budgets this year.  We have seen a slight downturn in City income from sale tax and building permits, etc.  The mild spring even has some effect - lower electric bills equate into lower franchise payments.  I'll take the wonderful Spring!

Lakeway Police has started a "Traffic Initiative" to get speeds under control.  So look for more and stricter enforcement from our force - the speed limits are there for a purpose, to keep you and other residents and visitors safe.  I am looking forward to driving down Lakeway Blvd. without having someone pass me going 45!

The City prohibits any use of fireworks within the City.  I hear violations every year.  Here is a link to more information.

I attended a CAMPO Special Meeting yesterday and we interviewed and made a selection on an Executive Director for the organization.  I think things will get better and we can look at all the options for traffic on this side of Travis County.

CAMPO has an online survey that is available to the public on different projects.  Here is a link to more information about the survey.  I am working on a help and information sheet so give me a few more days before attempting the survey.  Unfortunately projects we are most interested were left off or are not on the included map.  I will also be discussing this with CAMPO staff.

Have a wonderful weekend and I will update the blog if I receive more info.

  1. I would like to see police enforce tailgating laws more actively. It is clearly people from the area who are not aware of the strict enforcement along 620.

  2. Pardon me. I should have said that it is clearly people from OUT of the area who are not aware of the strict speeding enforcement along 620.
