From Steve Jones:
Chessie and Troy met with representatives from Bury, Inc. to discuss the preliminary plan, plat vacations, and final plat for the Oaks at Lakeway. We also established a schedule for review of the site development plan for the 90-acre project.
Chessie met with representatives from Castle Designs. They have submitted a variance request for signage at the future Lexus of Lakeway facility. This item will be heard at next week’s regular ZAPCO meeting. Staff opposes the request.
The Visitors Commission branding committee held a phone conference with North Star this morning for an update on our branding process. North Star developed three alternative “creative concepts” that the committee vetted. We also discussed creative directions for designing a new marketing logo. The process should be finalized in June.
Another committee of the Visitors Commission has been interviewing firms to perform a feasibility analysis and market study for our proposed conference/event center. The committee plans to make a recommendation to the commission on May 12.
Staff is working on a project to address a flooding issue on Explorer Drive and a collapsed culvert on Brooks Hollow Drive. The project includes constructing a new storm sewer line down Explorer from Intrepid Drive to Brooks Hollow Drive and replacing the culvert on Brooks Hollow at Acapulco Drive. A bid opening is set for May 29.
The review of Texas Gas Service’s proposed interim rate revision by Fox Smolen and Associates is complete. Fox Smolen finds the proposed rates to be justified and recommends approval. The rate request will be on our May agenda for consideration.
Firewise committees from Lakeway and Steiner Ranch have joined with Lake Travis Fire Rescue to educate the public about protecting their homes from wildfires through educational booths and fun activities for all ages at the Wildfire Community Preparedness Day tomorrow from 9 am to 1 pm. From Chief Radford:
A police officer completed an emergency commitment order for a suicidal patient who was at the ER at LRMC.
Three traffic stops this week led to the seizure and arrests for possession of contraband including, hash oil, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
A dead bat was found in the hallway of the Lakeway elementary school on Tuesday afternoon. LPD responded to the scene and took possession of the bat. Per our protocols, we sent the bat to the State Health department lab for analysis. The lab notified us on Wednesday afternoon that the bat had rabies. We in turn contacted Dr. Allen at LTISD and they initiated their parent notifications and internal protocols.
On Friday night, Sergeant Mike Pribble and I will attend the Texas Military Forces Support Foundation dinner to accept an award as an organization that supports the military efforts of its employees who are reservists or guard members. The Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) committee selected a company or organization in three categories: small, large, and public organizations. They selected us as their number nominee to the national selection process in the public company category. Although we did not make the final list of the top 30 companies in the national finals, we were selected as the best in Texas by ESGR. This is an incredible honor and comes on the heels of an application process put together by Sgt. Pribble, Nicole Sooter, and Sharon Cole.
We had a meeting with CAPCOG regarding our standing as a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The conversations were positive and our standing appears to be at their required level of 10 emergency calls a day.”

I received an email sent out by Tom Brewer about some of the issues facing the LMUD and his support for Mr. Armstrong. Here is that letter. However you feel about the makeup of the LMUD Board and the issues facing residents on water issues, cast your vote and be heard.
Thanks for all the support!
