New Year! Things Are Getting Busy Quick!

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  It's been a pretty slow Holiday Season but things are waking up and it looks to get pretty busy pretty fast!

ZAPCO will have their meeting on January 8 - here is that agenda.  This is a draft agenda but it is probably correct.  Several items of interest:

Item 4 is a Home Occupation Permit for Educational Workshops at 115 Golfcrest - this was sent back for more information last year and is coming back.

Items 5, 6, 7 and 8 have to do with the Lexus project.  All questions and items of concern from the staff have been addressed.  There has been very little opposition and in my opinion is a good use for the property - we'll see how it turns out.

Item 9 has to do with the Stratus project at Glen Heather (HEB, etc.) and will create a Planned Use Development (PUD).  There have been no major issues with this project.

Item 10 has to do with a request for a Special Use Permit for an auto repair service.  This is to be located at 1206 620 North - previously this was slated for Schlotzsky's who is no longer interested.

Item 11 contains changes to the Final Plat at Lakeway Medical Village - no big surprises.

City Building Commission will meet on Thursday, Jan. 9 - here is that agenda.  Looks like they have a long day in store for them although nothing really controversial.

2014 Memberships are due for the Lakeway Activity Center!  Give them a call at 512-261-1010 and renew so they don't have to send out a bill - saves some money for the City!

From Chessie Zimmerman (Steve Jones is on Vacation!)  Several employees are out with the flu or bronchitis so it's been really quiet!

From Chief Todd Radford:

Officers took another report of trespassing at the hospital.  The same suspect who has trespassed at the hospital and stolen trash out of their dumpster on previous occasions, returned.  The case has been forwarded to CID.

We took a report of a burglary of vehicle that occurred on Fantail.  The victim stated a wallet and power drill were taken from his truck during the night.  The truck was unlocked.

A wooden statue was reported stolen from a front yard on Seawind.

A routine traffic stop on 620 led to a probable cause search after K9 alerted on the vehicle.  A small amount of marijuana was seized.

Officers arrested a female driver for DWI after she passed out behind the wheel of her car in the drive through line at Sandy’s Hamburger Hut.

An officer stopped to assist a motorist on 620 who had run out of gas.  The officer eventually discovered that the driver was operating a stolen car.  The driver was arrested and the vehicle was impounded.

The Lakeway Police are enrolling students for the next Citizens Police Academy - her is a link to more information!  If you haven't done this it is well worth the time spent!

Get ready for the deep freeze tonight - I hear it should be in the low 20's in the morning!  I too have had the flu and more and am really looking forward to getting well and having fun in Lakeway!

Please tell your friends if you enjoy the blog - have them send an email to lakeway@bain.us and I'll get them signed up on my email list - have a GREAT Sunday!
