Busy Week - Check it Out!

It was a busy week in the City!  I'm not doing a very good job of getting the blog out on Friday, but I'm feeling better and hopefully that will improve.

In case you haven't heard, there is a "boil water" notice for Hurst Creek MUD currently.  They had a water main intake break - I expect this will be over once you read this.

You should have received your new Lakeway Phone Directory!  If you don't find your name in it, its because you have to request to be put in it.  Here's a link to more information - get it in now for next year!

The Lakeway Citizens Police Academy starts it's 2014 session Feb. 5.  They are looking for folks that want to learn and become involved!  It's a GREAT class and well worth the time - here is a link to more info.

The Big Band Bash returns Monday the 13th.  Here is a link to more information to another free event that's lots of fun!

Here is the current Parks and Rec report from Andra.  Thanks!

Interested in the traffic problems we are facing?  Try getting involved!  There will be a CAMPO Mobile Meeting January 27th at 7PM at Austin Christian Fellowship Student Center, 6401 River Place Blvd., Austin, TX 78730. Here is a link to more information.  I can tell you that there is NO plan to alleviate the traffic problems on 620 - we need to act now!

ZAPCO (Zoning and Planning) met in regular session Wednesday. Here is the Agenda.  Item 4 was a request for a Home Occupation (business) that was turned down with a unanimous vote.  This was initially heard at a previous ZAPCO meeting and was tabled until the commission and applicant could get more information.

Items 5, 6, 7 and 8 had to do with the proposed Lexus dealership at 620 and Clara Van.  One resident spoke against the proposal and one spoke for it - all items were passed unanimously and will go to Council on January 21.

Item 9 was a zoning change request from Stratus for a PUD (Planned Unit Development) to enable the "Oaks at Lakeway" to move forward.  This is the development that will include several retail pads and a major grocery store at Glen Heather and 620.  This was passed unanimously and recommended to Council.  Here are some links to artists renditions - concept plan,  perspectives1, perspectives 2.

10 was a Special Use Permit for Sun Auto Service located on 620.  This was the location that Schlotzsky's was going in and they have bowed out, across from Guarantee Automotive - approved and recommended to Council.

Item 11 was a replat of the property at the Lakeway Regional Medical Center to fix some issues with lots and setbacks - approved and recommended to Council.

Item 12 updated the 2010 Annexation study and recommended annexation of property between Bee Creek Road and Hwy. 71.  This was previously not recommended because of the cost of improving Bee Creek Road.  Now that the County is re-doing the road it is in the best interest of the City to annex the property.  This will also come to Council soon the start of the process.

CBC (City Building Commission) met Thursday - here is that agenda.  The meeting went smoothly and all items passed except for a couple of final inspections where items were not addressed. Item 9 was ruled a "Golf Course Lot" and the entrance to the garage on item 11 was allowed.

That's all for today - more as I find out or staff shares it.

Have a GREAT week!
