WOW, it's winter again! Tonight's "Lights On" event is ON! It will be cold but more like Christmas! The Liebelt Cabin is decorated and ready for the dedication tonight also, along with a memorial bench honoring LaNell Edwards - that starts at 6:30PM in the City Hall parking lot. At 6:45 Santa (the REAL one) will arrive and the "Lights On" celebration will begin. You will have to park at the Activity Center - all events will be held at the City Hall - no parking will be allowed in the City Hall Parking lot.
The City held it's annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner last evening - what a GREAT event! 274 folks attended a wonderful dinner at the Lakeway Resort and three individuals were recognized for their efforts. Steve Swan was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year, Sandy Cox was recognized with an Unsung Hero award, and Bill Dickson was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award! Congratulations to all of the wonderful enthusiastic volunteers that make Lakeway the wonderful place it is!
Thanks to Andra Dearing - here is the new Parks and Rec report for November +. Thanks Andra!
ZAPCO met Wednesday in regular session - two items were on this agenda. Item 3 vacated a plat at 15506 Clara Van to allow the proposed Lexus Dealership to move forward on that property - it was approved unanimously. Item 8 was a cut and fill variance at 5327 Serene Hills Dr that was passed by a vote of 5-2. This is for a proposed multifamily project at that address. The rest of the items are postponed until the January meeting.
Two other events of interest that you should attend. The first is the Star-studded gala to aid the Lakeway Police Foundation on December 13 starting at 6PM at the Lakeway Resort and Spa. This is the 4th annual benefit gala to raise proceeds for those who protect and serve the Lakeway community. Here is a link to more details or contact Amber Hart at amberharthomes@gmail.com or 512-415-9023.
The second event near and dear to my heart is the Help Our
Wounded Gala, also at the Lakeway Resort and Spa. It is a New Years Event and here is a link to more information. Please help me support these folks that have given unselfishly to keep our country great!
I'll send out another report tonight or tomorrow if there is more city news - I wanted to get this out early to remind everyone of the activities this evening! See you there!
