Wednesday the ZAPCO Commission met in regular session. Here is that agenda. Several items of interest! First was a hearing on amending the PUD for Tuscan Village to delete the 2 story limitation on buildings there. After several citizens spoke both for and against, the Commission voted 5 to 2 to recommend approval to the Council.
Second on the list was an amendment to the City's Zoning Code for a C-4 district titled Auto Sales and Service. My count showed 8 speaking for the zoning and 6 against - there was much discussion and the commission voted 4-3 to recommend this to Council. Much is going around on Social networks and a couple of the local blogs and there is a lot of misinformation out there. Here is a link to a press release that might dispel much of that concern. Here is a link to the full draft ordinance.
Next was a Special Use Permit request for an Assisted Living facility on the property located at 1501 Lohmans Crossing Rd. This was recommended on a vote of 6-1.
There was also a request for a Home Occupation Permit that was tabled until next month.
CBC will meet in regular session on October 10, 2003 at 9:AM. Here is that agenda.
From Steve Jones:
Julie Oakley and I had a conference call with our financial advisor and an analyst from Moody’s Investors Service this morning regarding a new rating on our upcoming bond issue for Flint Rock Road. The city’s current rating is Aa2. The next step up is Aa1 (the highest rating given to cities our size) then Aaa. Julie had us well prepared, and the interview went very well. However, there is no way to predict the outcome. They told us that we would have their decision next Friday morning.
From Chief Radford:
Officers responded to a disturbance on Brooks Hollow in which an intoxicated and combative male juvenile was being restrained by family members. The juvenile was transported to LRMC and no charges were filed.
Ken Farr was promoted to the rank of Captain.
Officers made contact with suspects in four separate traffic stops in which the drivers were arrested for active warrants.
Detective Davis is officially retired. Officer Gavit moved into the position vacated by Davis and assumed his caseload with the assistance of Sgt. Brinkman.
Captain Crowder and Sgt. Brinkman attended training at CAPCOG on the new First Call emergency notification system.
On National Night Out, Officers, including the K-9 unit, visited with citizens at 19 neighborhood gatherings throughout the city.
K-9 Officer Smith and partner Cory participated in bank robbery training, and Officers investigated six motor vehicle collisions this week.
