Haven't seen the City's photo's from the July 4th festivities? Here you go - a link to LOTS of pictures - good ones! Here's the parade - here's the Pageant of Flags - and here's the Block Party and concert! Enjoy! Thanks to Devin Monk for getting them on the website!
There are many volunteers and City Staffer's that spend countless time and effort to make this Holiday the best in Texas! Remember to thank them for their hard work! I certainly appreciate all the hard work that goes into making this a wonderful time in our City!
A special thanks to Congressman Roger Williams to pick Lakeway for his celebration! The flag he presented Mayor DeOme will be treasured and displayed for years to come. We realize he had many choices for his Holiday and appreciate his choice of Lakeway!
Once again we have a Burn Ban in Lakeway. Here is a link to more information. It's pretty much illegal to burn within the City limits anyway so it shouldn't be a problem for most folks. Don't forget, it's illegal to shoot fireworks within the City also - I noticed some violators on July 4th - glad there weren't any fires that I know of.
CBC will meet in regular session July 11, 2013 at 9AM. Here is that agenda. I try to attend all CBC and ZAPCO meetings - so I'll see you there!
The Lakeway MUD will meet on July 10, 2013 at 9:30AM. Here is that agenda. Looks like they have a full agenda - it also appears we will be going on a much stricter irrigation schedule July 15th. I wish all the MUD's would get together and standardize their irrigation schedules - I'm not sure why some go on restrictions before LCRA goes to a more restrictive schedule. Maybe they will talk about that.
The City is actively looking for a Finance Director - it looks like we might actually have a couple of viable possibilities - we'll see how that goes!
The Lake Travis Lions Club and local churches have stepped up to fill a void in the Lakeway area for meals to the homebound much like Meals on Wheels in Austin. Residents who are temporarily or permanently unable to prepare meals for themselves and have no one caring for them are now able to request meal delivery through the Lions Club partnering with many local churches. Most homebound residents face a limited selection of food items that are delivered by restaurants in our area---mostly pizza and Chinese food.
Meal deliveries will be made every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 4:30 and 6:00pm. The really exciting factor in the Lions Mobile Meals implementation is that the meals are prepared by some of the best restaurants in the south Lake Travis area. In addition to Hill Country Pasta, other restaurants who have generously decided to join the program as providers are Fore, the Grille at Rough Hollow, Iguana Grill, and Little Woodrow’s. The latest restaurants to join Mobile Meals are Café Blue, the Summit, Nik’s Italian Kitchen, and Maudie’s Tex-Mex.
In order to apply for the “Mobile Meals” program as a recipient, a food provider, or as a volunteer to help deliver meals, please call Lion Linda Davis at 512-799-2924.
In other area news, it appears Bee Cave has issued a water retention waiver for the Cielo Apartment development on 620 across from Falconhead. They will build 100 less apartments - looks like a lot already doesn't it.
620 is really getting crowed isn't it? Remember, the City's have virtually no control over the roadway - it belongs to TXDOT. Well over 50% of the traffic is "pass through" as far as Lakeway is concerned. That is why we need another route! TXDOT and Travis County need to put the West side of Travis County's traffic needs on the front burner!
Have a GREAT day - I appreciate all of the support I receive from you all!
