Special Edition, Dinner with the Chief, Council Results, , Fire on the Lake

Lakeway Police Foundation invites the community to the inaugural Dinner with the Chief from 6-9 p.m. June 23 at Rocco’s Italian Grill, 900 RR 620 S. Proceeds will benefit Lakeway Police Department’s first K-9 unit. The evening will feature cocktails, served appetizers, exclusive dinner, dessert, entertainment by De Lamar, and remarks by Lakeway Police Chief Todd Radford and Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo. Erin Hogan of ESPN Radio will emcee.  Here is a link to more information!

Council met in regular session last night - here is that agenda.  Council gave a Special Use Permit to Vinovium Partners for a Bonded Winery, Wine Cellar and Wholesaler.  This will be storage and wholesale only, no retail in an existing commercial building.

The City Staff,  Abercorn School and Cardinal Hills Office Park were asked to go back to the drawing board.  Abercorn School took over the facilities of a previous day care center and somewhere in the change it appears the property was never rezoned to GUI.  There was much concern among the Council that the project was too dense and also a safety concern of grade 1 to 5 school kids sharing roads and parking lots with a business.  More on this as it surfaces!

There was a fire on Lake Travis yesterday at Bob Wentz Park - here is the report:  Fire crews arrived on scene to find a kitchen fire in a two story commercial entertainment boat. Fire crews were challenged in reaching the fire by the limited access the boat's location presented. The fire rapidly progressed to engulf the entire boat. There are no reported injuries. Damage estimate $400,000. Crews will continue to monitor the scene through out the night.

Thanks for LOOKING!
