Bad News, and Some Better News +

I'm going to start out with some bad news.  I generally don't post personal issues, but these are too important to pass by.

First, one of Lakeway's most ardent supporter, Council Member and gracious volunteer was taken from us on November 30, 2012.  Patricia LaNell Edwards passed away after more than three years of struggling with several episodes of cancer, ultimately succumbing to the treatments.  Here is her Obituary - she will be missed and remembered by all of her friends and family.  Her funeral will be held Thursday, December 6th at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home at 1PM.

Another sad note, Sue Collyer-Potter also passed away after a bout with Pneumonia.  Sue was involved with Lakeway since shortly after it's inception and worked with many residents of the City to solve various issues and make Lakeway the wonderful place it is today.  There will be a Celebration of Life for Sue at Emmaus Catholic Church Wednesday at 4PM.  Sue will be sorely missed also.  Here is a link to her Obituary.

Council met in regular session November 19th and here is that agenda.

Council voted to approve a motion canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the Bond Election.

A resolution was approved to seek Firewise Communities USA Recognition for the City of Lakeway.

Lakeway Visitors Commission gave a status report and the suggested budget was delayed to December to work out some issues - all in all it was a GREAT proposal.

A new position was created in the Lakeway Police Department to allow addition of a Community Resource Officer position.

Some requested annexations and zoning resolutions were approved.

The "Trail of Lights" was officially lit up on November 30th.  It was once again a GREAT success and well attended.  The REAL Santa and Mrs. Claus were there to welcome all the attendees and talk to the kids who waited patiently in line to visit with him.

ZAPCO will meet in regular session Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 9:10 am.  Here is that agenda.

City Staff will meet with Travis County representatives this week to kick off the Flint Rock Road improvement project.  Lots of work to be done but it will be a good thing once completed!

In some lighter news, Chili's on 620 is moving to the Galleria - it appears that Schmidts BBQ that was to open on 71 will also move to a Galleria address - big month for the Galleria!

In case you didn't notice, the old Exxon station opened today as a Texaco - fuel and service!  Wonderful!!!!

I am signing off now - I know there are many things I did not report on.  I will try to do a better job in the future.

Email me with questions!
