2 Weeks! Let's Catch Up!

Let me go to the front of the line first!  Next week marks another 4th or July Celebration in the City of Lakeway!  Starting with the parade on Lakeway Drive at 8:30 from Live Oak Golf Course to the Lakeway Church.  There will be an Army Helicopter on display at the Activity Center starting at 8:40, a F18 fly over of the parade and Pagent of the Flags at the Activity Center at 10:30am.  That's just the start, for the rest of the day click here!  Hope to see you there!

Council met June 18th in regular session.  Here is that agenda.  We had an early Executive Session  and talked with the attorneys about issues including the Recovery Ways group and the Cokins Lawsuit.  This was continued in another Executive Session Monday, June 25th.  No action was taken in these sessions.

Financials were reported by Al Tyson - the City is doing well and unlike other City's in the news, has been fiscally responsible and has been managing your money well!

The Council voted to refund some Bonds and refinance them at the current low rates - this saves the City quite a bit of money over the life of the bonds.

The speed limit was lowered on Porpoise Drive at the request of the residents to 25mph.  The signs are already up.

Council amended the current budget to allow surpluses to be moved from the General Fund to the Capital Reserve fund, and amend revenue and expenditures.

Council approved funding for video recording and streaming of Council meetings - we are moving into the 21st century!

Three items were passed concerning Lakeway Airpark South.  A Special Use Permit was approved for two hangars with limits as to size and use.  Zoning was approved changed a portion of the area to residential R1* and a preliminary plan for the subdivision was approved.

Items 13, 14, 15 and 16 were all approved.

In case you haven't noticed, the structure is going up at the new Library.  Here's a picture compliments of Al Weber!

The LCC Board will relocate their administrative office to City Hall.  Dee Dee will office there and the LCC Board will have use of the conference rooms as needed.  Good plan!

The City of Austin passed their rate height for Austin Electric customers - this includes many citizens of Lakeway.  Here is a link to the "newsflash" the City sent out about a group fighting this increase if you are one of those affected.

From Steve Jones:

Paul Duncan and Mr. Jones met with TxDot representatives to discuss traffic concerns on RR 620.  They are completing a new study to coordinate the traffic signals and this should happen when school starts this fall.

Flintrock Trace has been overlaid with a new layer of asphalt.  Paul is working with Lakeway Medical Village to get the road opened in the next few weeks.  Barricades were removed in error and should be back up now.

Chessie Blanchard met with owners of the small Serene Hills commercial tract on the East side of Serene Hills Drive at SH 71 across from the proposed HEB.  They want to build a small multitenant building on the North end of the tract and four pad sites along the 71 frontage.  More on that soon.

Staff met with local investors who are interested in developing the vacant tract on Rupen Lane.  They are considering requesting R-3 zoning for that property.

The Ridge at Alta Vista HOA contacted Staff to discuss removing the gates and accepting the private streets as public right of way on behalf of  one of the residents.  There appears to be no interest in this course of action.

ZAPCO will meet next week on July 5th because of the holiday.

Our attorneys filed the City's answer to the George Blume lawsuit last Friday.  This had to do with the possible proposed sale of Rebel and Sailfish parks that was turned down by residents.

Hope to see you at the July 4th festivities next week!  More as I find out!
