So, what's going on in Lakeway?
Please keep the folks affected by the terrible flood disasters in Central Texas in your prayers - this is the worst flood disaster in many years. There are many groups in the area taking donations and signing up volunteers for when and if they are needed.
The lake is up over 21 feet, but still below the average level for this time of year. It still may rise 3-5 feet depending on the releases from the rivers / lakes above it. Currently at 658.52 at 7:30 AM, July 8, 2025.
You can get the current level at this link: https://hydromet.lcra.org/Charts/?siteNumber=3963&siteType=lakelevel&agency=LCRA
Currently a group is working to get an Amateur Radio Repeater installed in Lakeway to serve Lakeway, The Village of the Hills and Bee Cave.
We have currently been able to get authorization to install the equipment at Baylor Scott and White (highest building in the area and best power capabilities)!
This equipment will insure communications are available for the area in case of a major disruption in normal communications - like cell, police radios and telephones - maybe like a severe flood disaster as is currently being experienced in Central Texas! Amateur Operators (Hams) are currently being heavily utilized in the Kerrville and surrounding areas!
If you have interest in this project, contact me at lakeway@bain.us and I can give you more info!
The Lakeway July 4th Parade was cancelled this year because of the inclement weather - first time I'm aware that has happened.
That's all for now - have a GREAT week!
