Memorial Day Celebration, Weather and a little More

*****Memorial Day Ceremony*****

A big thanks goes to Major General Rodney (Rod) Kelly (R) for working hard to get the Memorial Day Ceremony going with the help of the Lakeway Standing Military Committee, the City of Lakeway, the Lohmans Ford Chapter NSDAR - Texas DAR, the Lakeway Police, and all the others that worked hard to put this video on.  A special thanks for the kind words about Ward Bebe, our standard bearer for the Coast Guard that passed recently.  Here is a link to the video.  Thank you folks, well done!  Note the links for information about the groups.

*****Weather*****

As promised, the Memorial Day weather has come to visit with a vengeance!  We received 1.4 inches of rain overnight along with a LOT of lightning and thunder and 30-40 mph winds.  No hail at my house that I know of, I hope no one had any damage.

More of the same is promised for tonight and possibly continuing into the week.  South Austin got over 4 inches of rain and lots of hail.  If you want to keep an eye on the rain totals and conditions locally, here is a link to the weather station on the 15th Tee of Live Oak golf course - for the non golfers, at the South end of Vanguard St.  Check it out, always available and a lot of information!

*****La Quinta Opens - Finally*****

The La Quinta in the Oaks finally opened Friday, May 22.  the construction went on for at least three (3) years.

That's all for right now, I'll post more about the weather if the storms return as promised.

Have a safe Memorial Day, please take a moment to think of all our veterans that gave their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy.

If you want to be added (or removed) from the email list, please send a note to lakeway@bain.us and I'll get it done.
