*****Weather*****
Well, the first week of 2020 comes to an end. Out Texas weather is reminding me why I live here - supposed to be 70° today and 73° tomorrow (4th and 5th of January). If you like seeing current conditions from the 15th Tee Weather Station, there is a new app I found that really works great. It's called "PWS Monitor" and is free in the app store. Load it up and add KTXLAKE14 as a station and you will see current conditions and graphs about current weather. Of course, you can always click on this link and it will take you to Weather Undergound and there is history there. Enjoy the next couple of days, it will change....
*****Good News*****
Let's start the year with some fun good news. The first baby born in the Austin area was at our own Baylor Scott and White Lakeway! Please welcome Katelynn to the community. She arrived New Years morning at 12:31 a.m. weighing in at 6 lbs. 7.3 ounces, 19 inches long. Torchy's missed it and provided tacos to the baby born at 12:40 a.m. at Seton.
Looks like the Lake Travis Community Library has some new hours. Here's a link to their webpage with all the information about their services and coming events. Lot's going on over there - check it out!
*****Deer*****
I've heard the City was able to obtain the TTT (Trap, Transport, Transplant) permit.
After the last meeting when council voted 4-3 to apply for the permit, some of the folks that were upset not only damaged some of the cities decorations, they also once again got PETA to blast the city. Thousands of emails about how bad the city's decision / behavior was once again nearly overwhelmed the city server. This is typical behavior and this is not the first time. IT put in a filter to shunt the emails over to a special folder so people and the equipment weren't overwhelmed. I'm also told one of the council members was upset about that and wanted all the emails to be released. By the way, these emails come from all over the world, France, Taiwan, Russia, etc., all wanting input into the way our city is run.
I also think I remember part of the motion was to require a corral method of trapping instead of the tested net method. I'm concerned for the liability of the city if one of the trappers is injured. Trying to manhandle a live loose deer is very dangerous. We'll see what happens at the next meeting. Protests in Lakeway?
*****Meetings*****
- Parks and Rec., January 7th - Cancelled
- ZAPCO, January 8, 9:15 a.m. Here's a link to the agenda / packet - looks like a short meeting - sign request, Special Use Permit for a pet grooming business at 2300 Lohmans Spur (Chair King Center) and a variance for more impervious cover at 219 RR 620 S. They are also going to talk about changes to the sign ordinance.
- Public Engagement Advisory Committee - January 8 from 4 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall. Here's a link to their agenda.
- City Building Commission meets on January 9th, 9:00 a.m. at the City Hall. Here's a link to their agenda.
- Lakeway Wildlife Advisory Committee Meeting January 9th, 6:30 p.m. City Hall. No agenda, my guess is they will talk about the permit, error in deer survey and costs of TTT.
- The next Brown Bag Luncheon Concert is scheduled at the Activity Center on January 9, 2020 from noon until 1:00 p.m. I'm not sure who is scheduled but it will be great - check it out, no charge, take your own lunch and drink.

Be sure to lock your cars and don't leave valuables in your car. Maybe put them in the garage! The police have had some reports of items being stolen from vehicles and even a couple of vehicles stolen. Cars were unlocked and keys were in the ignition. Lets help, lock your cars!
Get ready for the 2020 Census. We get to see just how many folks we have living in Lakeway! I'm predicting about 15,000. We'll see when we get the results.
That's all for right now. I hope everyone had a great holiday! Don't forget to get some aerial pictures, call or email me and I'll get it done! Look around and try to drive safely.
If you enjoy the blog, please tell your friends and send them a link. Doesn't hurt to click on an ad every once in a while, helps to pay the expenses!
Thanks again for all the support!
