Beginning in the late 19th century, as the trade union and labor movements grew, trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labor. "Labor Day" was promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor, which organized the first parade in New York City. In 1887, Oregon was the first state of the United States to make it an official public holiday. By the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894, thirty states in the United States officially celebrated Labor Day. So, enjoy it!
Another GREAT thing- Lakeway received about .69 inch of rain yesterday - it thundered and lightninged and poured down for a little while - the yards loved it!
It's for a good cause and we would really appreciate it! If the link goes to the Kim Ortiz page, just scroll down to the contest and click on it - then scroll to Bella's picture and LIKE it. It's worth the trouble and supports a good cause - and gets Bella in the calendar!
Lots going on at the Library! Here's a link to their calendar, check it out!
Don't forget the "Hazardous Household Waste" event this Wednesday. Here's a link to more information.
I had an inquiry about when the next Drug Disposal event was coming. It appears CVS has stepped up to help out with this issue. Here's a link to more info.
