One of our finest was injured in an accident during an attempted stop of a vehicle 5-17-2012, you might have seen the incident on TV. Officer Slade Fisher was on patrol on his police motorcycle and lost control following an auto that was fleeing. He was severely injured on Highland Parkway and was flown to Brackenridge Hospital by helicopter. At last report today, he was doing better and was in surgery. Please put him in your thoughts and prayers, our officers risk their lives daily to keep us safe!
Recovery Ways Update - Our TML insurance will accept our claim on Recovery Ways. This means they will represent us in any court or legal claims. There has been no lawsuit filed at this point but they are filing a motion to depose some staff.
There is a Memorial Day Ceremony scheduled for Monday, May 28th at the Lakeway Heritage Center. Please join us to honor those that have died serving our country! Here is a link to more information!
Two major events are happening this Saturday! The City-Wide Indoor Garage Sale is going on at the Activity Center from 8AM until noon. Here is more info. There will also be a Hazardous Waste Collection & Document Shred Event going on from 8AM until noon at the Hudson Bend Middle School. This is put on in conjunction with the Hurst Creek MUD, The Village of The Hills. Lakeway MUD, City of Bee Cave and WCID #17, is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection and Document Shred event, this Saturday, May 19, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, at Hudson Bend Middle School (15600 Lariat Trail at RR 620 and General Williamson Rd). City Building Commission will meet in regular session next week on May 24, 2012. Here is that agenda.

City Council will meet in regular session Monday, May 21, 2012 at Council Chambers. Here is that agenda. Come congratulate the incumbents on their re-election to their Council positions. Staff met this week with representatives of the Medical Village development. They are ready to submit an updated application for an assisted living facility at the hospital campus - they will also submit an updated plan that reflects some revisions since the original plan was approved - no surprises are anticipated.
Recovery Ways filed an appeal with the Board of Adjustment to overturn ZAPCO's and Council's decision to disapprove their special use permit. The 30 day deadline on ZAPCO's decision has lapsed and the Board of Adjustment has no authority to hear an appeal of Council's decision.
