Today I visited with Officer Robert Latham and Sgt. Alan Stone at the Lakeway PD. Robert has been working for years helping with installation and maintenance of the equipment in the cars. Sgt. Stone has been helping for a while and together they seem to be a real team. It takes about a day and a half to outfit a new car and they already have them going - GREAT JOB!
It seems Sgt. Stone has also solved some issues with the new motorcycles having to do with
electrical issues. There have been some problems with generator output that he worked out solutions for.Currently the motorcycles are waiting for new and upgraded helmets and communication gear that will be here by this weekend - so be on the lookout, they will be out there keeping us safe.
Alan and Robert will also be installing the computer equipment we receive from the grant sometime in October - this will be a great enhancement to our officers and productivity.

It turns out that the Fire Department had not 1 but 2 fires at the General Williamson Dr. station. Two days after the first fire, the power was restored to the rest of the building and another electrical fire started. The lake Travis Fire Rescue staff is now working out of Station # 5 in Steiner Ranch and the displaced engine and crew are working out of the TCSO West Command Office. I understand they had an excellent response time on both fires!
